I haven't seen the carb on these units but it sounds like you need to clean/clear the main jet of the carb. That probably is the brass bolt that holds the carb bowl on to the body of the carb.It has small holes in it that can easily clog up. Maybe you also need to install an inline fuel filter on this unit.

Cub Cadet has gas, has spark, has air -still won't start/run

Are you pulling the plug to check for wetness after cranking it a few times, WITHOUT using the starting fluid? Also, I would recommend using carb cleaner in place of the starting fluid. Starting fluid runs the engine VERY hot for a brief time and can possibly damage rings, valves, and aluminum parts.

Engine starts run awhile then stops

You need to take the carb out and rebuit the carb. Get the seal rebuit kit and make sure you put the small springs back w.the seals. You should have (2) little springs that goes on top of carb were the fuel goes. Also take the float apart and clean all the small holes w/a metal pick that you could purchase at any tool store.

The purpose of this is to make sure you clean the carb out right and replaced the seals, and clean the small ports in the carb to take any built up or debris, after a while they go bad.

First, take the air filter off and spray a shot of carb cleaner/ starting fluid in the carb. If it starts for a second and runs on the prime then its a fuel issue. Check fuel filter, fuel delivery, and carb.

After you dump the fuel in the throttle body it will continue to run on its own or die as soon as it burns up all the fuel you dump in? Do you have access to (Noid lights)? Are both plugs attached to the distributor?

Engine starts easily, but doesnt stay running. removed fuel cap, still the same, pulled off fuel line, its not plugged. With the air cleaner off if I spray in starting fluid it keeps running, but will stop...

sounds like a fuel problem in the gas tank or carb. If bad gas or debris gets into the carb fuel bowl, this will fowl up or clog the jets after you start to run your engine. you need to remove your carb and clean the fuel bowl and jets. use a jet carb cleaner to do this. without knowing what type of engine, make sure all ur jets are clean. use a fine wire to insure they are clean and put te carb back together. also check and clean the fuel valve area of the carb, the fuel line, and the fuel tank. never use last years gas and always run your equipment out of gas before you store it for the winter.

no big deal people do it all the time - drain the oil out best you can then put some gas in and shake the saw to mix it up . now drain that fuel and put in fresh - if the saw doesnt fire up you may need to remove spark plug and crank over to remove any oil if it got into the cyl - try to start again - if still wont fire up remove air cleaner and put some fuel directly into carb . I use a pump type oil can to put fuel in carb - once it fires keep it running on high till it stops smoking then reassemble air cleaner - this should solve your prob . keep me informed enginedoc
