Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I do not leave dirty dishes in my Bosch dishwasher more than a few hours and do a load every other day. However there is always a 'rotten' odor in it. I've tried washing it with baking soda but that doesn't work. sure hope you can suggest something!

Clean out the pump filter (located above the pump) then run the machine with a large measuring cup full of vinegar first then, dishwashing soap nothing else no other dishes for the two loads.

Our Bosch dishwasher always has condensation after completing the cycle. Is there a reason for this?

I have noticed the same with our bosch dishwasher. Once the unit finishes washing, it sits there silently for about 1/2 hour and then exhausts the hot/moist air through the drain pump and illuminates the "clean" light. With the tub still hot, I open the door and prop it open a few inches with the top rack for a few hours. Since the tub is still very hot but open to the much cooler air, a lot of that condensation will leave the clean dishes. A few hours or even overnight should do the trick! It isn't a perfect system but beats having that coil heater in the bottom to warp all of your plasticware.

We have a Bosch SHU3307UC dishwasher. Two friends swear by theirs, saying they put everything in dirty and the load always comes out clean. That does not at all work for us. My wife has to just about wash...

Put dirty stuff in will eventually keep a tech like me very busy. We love to come and charge you alot for cleaning your dishwasher. Remember the Maytag commercials where they put a cake in it? Still got the dishes clean but before long it will cost you big time. Just run everything under the tap. Pot and pans should be lightly washed also. Watch how you place the dishes. Most dishwashers spray up from the bottom. Block it, and the spray will not reach the top.

Would the stainless steel make the inside of the dishwasher smell awful when half full of dirty dishes after only 2 days? I noticed under the screen on bottom of tub that not all the water completely...

stainless steel will not smell or rust that why its used, the cause of the smell is twofold 1 dirty dishes should not be left unwashed in the machine to long a bectearia starts to grow within a couple of hours and starts the smell process,2the filter system at the bottom of the machine should be checked everyday [heavy user]light use every [2/3 days],the screen at the bottom of the machine is the filters, some models do leave some water in the bottom.adrian,,,,,

MAYTAGS BEST DISHWASHER STINKS

Start up and empty dishwasher, with no dishwasher powder detergent added. Wait for the dishwasher to fill and begin the wash cycle. Open the do and add one quarter cup of household bleach. Allow to finish the whole cycle.

Check the smell and look at the residual water left in the bottom of the dishwasher, if you can see it. Is that water clear?

Run several loads of dirty dishes and check for any odor.

If problems return, recommend you remove the filter assembly in the lower sump area (the spray arm will need to be removed too.) Inspect with a flashlight the whole area for debris and blockages. Reassemble and keep checking it for any return of the odor. This is not normal for a modern dishwasher.

New Bosch dishwasher mold before cycle

The Bosch is a very good dishwasher and it is very airtight. I would suggest you NOT leave the dishes inside that long, and always use the Power Scrub Plus cycle if you have it. It will get the water as hot as possible so mold does not continue to grow in the plumbing and filters.

It is NOT the dishwasher unit causing the problem.

Dishwasher Soap scum left on dishes

the problem is hard water. There is a new product out called The Dishwasher Filtration System. It filters the water going into your dishwasher leaving your dishes spot free with every load. It is very affordable and fits right under the sink. You will be amazed how sparkling your dishes look just after one load. You will love this product. Get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com.

Bad smell

Try running washer empty with soap or tablet in the regular cup and baking soda in the secondary cup. After cycle is complete and somewhat dry inside leave slightly open to allow air circulation overnight. This should help.

Bosch dishwasher she45m

Just bought a Bosch dishwasher and we were told that they have no heating mechanism to dry the dishes, which is why they are more energy efficient.  You are supposed to leave the door closed for at least one hour after the cycle is complete.  The heat that has built up inside during the wash cycle will dry the dishes.  It is also recommended to always use JetDry. If you follow this advice, the dishes will come out fine.

Bosch dishwasher will not drain - causing moldy odor

Hello Mimhoff it depends on how much water is down there. The sump area always has a little water in it to prevent the circulation pump seals from sticking. Usually around 1 to 2 inches. If there is more than that, check the slots at the bottom of the sump on the left side for being clogged and check the end of the drain hose to make sure it is clear. If you are getting a moldy/odor from the dishwasher, try running Dishwasher Magic or Tang thru the dishwasher. This will remove any build up of food or detergent from the dishwasher. If you are running the dishwasher every few days and just scraping your dishes, then either leave the door ajar or run the rinse & hold cycle to help keep the odor down. Bosch doesn't reccommend running bleach thru the dishwasher as this can cause damage to the rubber seals. However 2 tablespoons of bleach once a year won't hurt.
