Craftsman 22hp 7500 zero turn mower 3years old. when started it runs full bore, as if the governor isn't working. Won't idle down.

Be careful - running ungoverned will quickly destroy the engine. Look at the carburetor throttle lever. There should be two linkages attached -- one from the manual throttle lever, another from the governor. The linkage to the governor is usually a spring. Perhaps that came off or broke, or a foreign object is wedged in there.

governors on this engine are mechanical they are activated by a linkage that extends out side of crank case to a spring , if your rpm is not maintaining correctly id look at spring , if its malformed or broken heres part number of new one (691019) this is avail from sears parts

Craftsman zero turn - blades won't engage


The PTO switch contacts to operate the clutch that starts the blades is defective. I have replaced mine and the new one just failed again. Sears must know this is a defect problem but so far they are quiet about the problem

Hi, when was the last time you had the carburator serviced, secondly, you must check the governor to make sure it is working correctly under load.
