1. Make sure to use the exact upper/lower case as stated in the manual. The password is usually case sensitive but the username may be either, depending on the vendor's implementation. In doubt, make sure they are identical as in the manual.

2. You may have received a router with a pre-existing configuration. Look for the "Factory reset" feature in your manual. Once the reset is done, you should be able to connect using the default username and password.

What is the exact brand and model of your router?

Since I don't know much about your network setup, I am assuming nothing. Please try this:

    1. Disconnect the power cord from your router

    2. Open a command prompt on your PC (Start->Run, type "CMD")

    3. Type PING 192.168.1.1

Do you get "Reply from..." or "Time out..."?

If you get "Reply from..." it means that your have another device on your network that is already using the IP address 192.168.1.1. So, it also means than you were hitting this other device instead of the router you are talking about here.

Im trying to set this up as an access point. but it will not fine a ip from the router

Most router wont act as a DHCP client (Get an IP address) on their own.

You need to go into the Belkin setup and set it to an IP address in the range of your other router.

For example:
If your PC is getting (connected to the same network) an IP address of 192.168.0.3 IP and a Default Gateway address of 192.168.0.1 you can set the Belkin with any adderss between 192.168.0.10 & 192.168.0.254. Changing the last octet (set of numbers after the 3rd period) to the desired address.

Which ip do I use to connect for first time?

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Is wps54g wireless print router compatible with windows 7: how do I get it installed

Contrary to the on-line advice that I have found, the Linksys wireless print server WPS54G is compatible with Windows 7. It is the installation program that is not compatible. While not as bad as the early days of setting hardware dip switches, the print server must be installed manually. Following are the many steps that I took to install my WPS54G to work with Windows 7; lengthy, but worth it.

1. Connect your printer to the PC using a USB cable and USB port. Allow the printer to install. Print a test page. Even though you just installed the printer, check for an updated printer driver at the manufacturer's website. I did this late in the process before I could get the printer to work. It installed an HP universal driver.

2. Set the printer as the default.

3. If you do not know the IP address of your print server, access the router using your browser. See your manual for instructions. For a Linksys, type the default IP router address 192.168.1.1 into the browser address bar. If you have done this in the past, set up your router security. The default user name is left blank and the default password is admin.

4. Connect your print server to the PC using a USB cable and USB port.

5. On the router locate the DHCP Client Table and determine the IP address of the print server. You might have to refresh the table. The default is probably 192.168.1.78.

6. Access the print server using your browser and the IP address of the print server. The default user name is left blank and the default password is admin. Set up security to match the router, SSID, password, type of encryption, etc.

7. Go to "Devices and Printers" (from the start menu), on the default printer icon that you just installed, right click and open "Printer Properties." Click on the "Ports" tab.

8. Click on "Add Port." Select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click on "New Port." Click "Next." Add the IP address of the print server (probably 192, 168.1.78) and call the port whatever you want. Click "Next."

9. After the port configures and you get the "Port Settings" tab (you can also get there by clicking on "Configure Port), change the protocol to "LPR" and click "LPS byte counting enabled." Use "p1" or P2" etc. for the "queue name."

10. Disconnect the print server from the USB port and let it sit for 30 seconds.

11. Disconnect the printer from the USB port.

I have problem setting up my wireless network and redirecting my wireless client to my local webpages before they can access to internet.   see this diagram below :...

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

How to configure this router

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. . here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. Since your ISP is Smartbro, first connect your laptop or computer directly to the smartbro modem, check if you have internet connection, if you have, click on start, then run adn type in cmd, it will pop up the dos prompt, type ipconfig/all. It will list the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server. write it down on a piece of paper.
b. access the setup page of the router and on the internet settings, manually set it to static ip address.
enter the ip address, subnetmask, default gatewat, dns server.
c. then the smartbor modem should be connected to the WAN port of the router and your computer should be connected to the port 1 or port 2 of the router.
d. if you want to connect on a wireless connection, on your router you need to setup the wireless connection setting.
if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck
