To get into the service menu you need a service remote. Digital board is the problem.

Why are there lots of black dots on the screen?

Those "black dots" are either dirt on the inside of the projector or, more likely, dead pixels on the LCD light valve chip.

I have a 2005, 42" toshiba LCD model 42DPC85 that when we turn it on everything is good except the whole screen is black but imediatly the colors dot by dot start making the black disappear, it only took...

You need a new DLP chip. The chip has little mirrors that are black on one side and white on the other side. When the chip wears out , your screen will turn white one dot at a time or black one dot at a time or they may just all stick shut at once. Since your screen is black, all your mirrors are closed. You can buy the chip from shopjimmy.com and they have a video of how to replace the chip so you can do it yourself. It takes about 1 1/2 hours. The chip is about $160. To have this service done for you is about $200. Do it yourself and save the money. Your tv will be just like new again. Just make sure the chip is in perfectly level or when you turn your tv back on, your picture will be slanted. you won't notice it on the picture itself but words on the screen or scrolling messages and the menu will be slanted.

I have nec np200 and there's a lot of dots appeared on the screen. what seems to be a problem

I have 2 NP-200 projectors installed in a school which show white dots on a black background and black dots on a white background. This is caused by the DMD chip losing pixels. Only solution is to replace the chip, I'm researching now if that i an economical solution.

I have black dots that almost cover the entire screen when I first turn on the TV that later turn to red dots and clear up after about 30 mins. What could be causing this?

Usually caused by the main driver board for the panel, or on the back-plane of the panel. The common solution is to change the driver board. If this does not work, then the panel would have to be tried.

It is possible in some cases the fault could be caused by the interaction of other boards, or can be on more than one of the boards. The factory service will use the process of elimination to locate the fault.

Service on these sets is done with board swaps, just like with computer service. Once the board is exchanged the new board may require some calibration to be at specs.

Black dot on my screen about the size of an unsharpened pencil's point. My camera is Olympus 790. The dot id on the pictures when printed and the screen.

The solution you can try is to run a function of the camera called Pixel Mapping to see if this removes the dot as it will redistribute the pixels of the camera on the LCD screen. To access this function - have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - right arrow to setup and press Ok - down arrow to pixel mapping and right arrow over to highlight start and press ok. The camera will try to repair itself. If after running this the dot is still there then you may need to send the camera to Olympus for service as the image processing chip may need to be replaced. http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Black dots on the screen

This is the digital equivalent to "snow" on a standard TV set. This unit should still be under warranty. I would file a service claim to document the problem. It may not warrant service at this time, but log the problem as an intermittant problem. That should cover you should the problem become solid after the standard warranty period has expired.
