SOURCE: jasmin is twice as old as rodney nine years ago

Hi,

Let the present age of the Rodney = X
present Age of the Jasmin = Y

As per the Situation,

Y-9 = 2 (X - 9)
Y-9 = 2X - 18
Y = 2X - 18 +9
Y = 2X-9

Second,

X + Y = 45
Y = 45 - X

Taking Both the situations,

2X - 9 = 45 - X
3X = 54
X = 54/3 = 18

Y = 45 - 18 = 27

Hence,

Age of Jasmin = 27

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Which Is better; to have a watch mechanism repaired or replaced?

Difficult to give an advice. I have no idea, what is wrong with the watch in the first place. But think, every part in the watch is 40 years of age. So even if the defective part is replaced everything else is old and could give up every day. I even think a good repair shop could ask as much money to repair the old watch, as a new one will cost you now. If you could buy a new inside for the watch, for a reasonable price you could thai that in the equation too.
Don't do anything too fast.

I have an old SethThomas electric mantle clock ( not sure of exact age). I lubricated the shafts for the gearing in the back. The motor is now running, but it is losing time and it's making a noise. Any...

Clocks are generally made to run unlubricated (thats' why they are made of brass) and oil (depending on how much has been applied) may slow down the mechanism.

In the long term oil attracts dust and clogs up the works, so it is not a good idea.

I don't expect that you added huge quantities but any additional friction may impede the time keeping.

Try removing the oil using surgical spirit applied with a paint brush or cotton buds.

My Quartz sports watch works, loses time, had three months, .

Sounds like battery is failing. Time to replace it! :-) Sears stores usually have a watch repair counter...or find a reputable watch repair business. (Even if the watch is new...its still possible the battery could be failing because you have no way of knowing when it was originally installed! They typically last about 2-3 years depending on age and condition of watch!)

Good luck!

Prague 49011G, automatic wind watch - stopped ticking

I also have a Prague automatic watch (not the same model) which I purchased in 10/06 and have had it repaired twice. If you purchased the watch new, a little white warranty paper should have accompanied it. If not, you might be out of luck. Anyhow, each Prague has a two year warranty. My warranty instructed me to send the original receipt, a check for $10 (for return shipping) and the watch to Croton Repair; 195 Anderson Avenue; Moonachie, NJ 07074. There of course is no phone number to call them. Make the check out to Croton Repair. The warranty also says they do not guarantee they will fix the watch, but they guarantee they'll send you the watch back if it cannot be repaired. It took about 5 weeks and my watch came back repaired. Unfortunately about 6 months later it broke again, same exact problem (no long self-winds, ticks or keeps time, my watch also has a diamond at each hour, two of which fell out)... I've seen a lot of the issues people are posting seem to be the automatic watches not working. Probably duds, the inner workings seem to be very sensitive.
