On motormu2080d, I finally got frequency changed. It still is not receiving or sending. What do I need to do?

This one is new for me, so if you posted elsewhere, bear with me. You changed the frequency, I assume to match another radio. Now you must also change the Tone, called PL, DPL,or CODE, etc. Both frequency and tone must be EXACT. Such as Frequency 2, code 1. which is default channel 1 on UHF radios. Also be certain you are not trying to match to an RMV radio, and RMV and RMU cannot talk to each other.

How do I reduce/eliminate the volume of the static between transmissions

To reduce the static bursts between radio transmissions alter the squelch setting on the radio. You must have a laptop or computer with programming software for that specific model of radio as well as the appropriate programming cable for that model radio.
Once you have downloaded the program from the radio to the computer via the program, change the squelch setting. A nominal squelch setting I use for any radios I program is 75 or higher. After making the alterations to the program, save it to a file on your computer and upload that file to the radio. Turn the radio off and on as necessary.
This should take care of the problem. If it still persists, increase the squelch setting.
Another possible fix is to change the squelch TYPE. If the radio is set to use a type "CSQ" squelch setting it will pick up ALL transmissions on the frequency programmed into the radio.
To alter this you must use the radio programming software for the radio in question and change the CSQ squelch type setting to DPL squelch type setting and assign a DPL code unique to group of radios you are using. If you pick up any cross talk from other users you can simply change the DPL code to a different DPL code. A very commonly used code would be 023N try to avoid using it. A code in the 200-300 range should be good enough.
If you have 2 or more radios they must all have the changes made to them or else they WILL NOT communicate with each other.
Hope this helps have an excellent day.

Interference on frs radio from motorcycle

Hi Vince,

Have you tried to set the PL or DPL on the radio. This will not stop the interference but it will prevent your radio from un squelching while riding.
If you could post the make and model of the radio i will look for a owners manual for you.

Remember to set both radios the same or make the PL or DPL the same or the radios will not "talk" to each other. PL and DPL stand for Private Line and Digital Private Line both terms coined by Motorola. It is a sub-auditable tone that the radio will listen for and open the squelch when the corrosponding radio is transmitting the tone and vice-versa.
Hope this helped.

Tone squelch

Here is a link to download the user manual for the GP68 http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/MOTOROLA/GP68%20RADIO%20TRANSMITTER-_E

On your first radio, the one we've been discussing, I believe you have the DPL code set incorrectly. Your radio will go up to the number 126, but this is not the DPL code's number. It is simply a numbering system.

If I read the chart correctly:
DPL 205 equals the number 072.
DPL 023 equals the number 043.

Disclaimer: This numbering system listed in the user guide does not follow any common numbering system. I have other TPL/DPL charts which differ. The above reference is only based on what I have read in the user guide.

I am confident if your radio worked previously at another job site, using other frequencies/PL codes, that your only issue at this time is programming.

As for your unlock issue on the other GP68. Your radio may be in need of repair. The internal button is possibly wornout or has been depressed too far, and is bent on the board beyond the point of functioning.
