Question about Sanyo PLV-Z5 LCD Projector

1 Answer

I have a Sanyo Z5 and turned it on and it was really dim. I figured since the bulb had 2100 hours it needed a new one. I replaced it and same problem. The screen is so dim I can't use it. Any ideas? Thanks Joe

Epson Powerlite 50C too dim

The ballast module is bad. It controls the lamp. Don't throw away the original lamp. Once the ballast module is replace you'll have 2 good lamps.

The display projected is very faint. The lamp light is not blinking to indicate a problem. Is this an issue with the settings?

Check the bulb hours remaining through the menu. The bulb gets dimmer with age, so it could be close to life expectancy (2000 hrs regular, 3000 hrs Eco) and failing. The indicator light is based on hours only and will shut down the projector after (2100 or 3100 hours of bulb use), so it could still be the lamp failing or a power supply issue, especially if it's dim right from start up. Hope this helps.

Sanyo PLV Z5 I changed bulb but it wont start up?

reset the lamp timer. if the fans won't start up either, you may have a power supply issue.

I replaced the bulb in my projector and now it

You need to hold the help button on the remote control for ten seconds, that should reset the lamp hour. NEC decided to make it inoperable after 2100 hours on the bulb.

Rechargeable maglite won't turn on.

I found out the light bulb was bad even though it looked good. Had a fine break in the filament that I couldn't see with my eyes. Pulled the light bulb part way out, put a voltage meter on the two prongs. It showed I had voltage right up to the light bulb which told me the light bulb was bad. Ordered a new one and it works.

Can you tell me why the optoma HD72I lamp will turn off after just a few minutes of running, the lamp is still fine

I have the same problem. I got a new bulb and it worked for about 1000 hours, then the new bulb started having the same problem. So, I was about to buy another bulb, and I figured why not try the original bulb. IT WORKED! For a couple weeks... Then it started doing it again. Obviously there was nothing wrong with the original bulb, and there is nothing wrong with the new bulb, but I have 2 bulbs that do it now. So, is there any way to just tell the projector run the bulb till it actually dies and not turn it off because it thinks it is about to die.

Image goes Dim

Hi there

Keep in mind that the light will only flicker if the bulb reaches a certain amount of hours or if it is damaged completely.

Try taking out the lamp and check on the inside of the shaft if you see any black vein looking marks on it or if there is a bubble at the bottom of the shaft - this normally causes the lamp to be very dim and will need replacement.

PLV-Z1 no longer powering up - Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.
