Question about Gateway M675 Laptop

1 Answer

I have a gateway M675 that will not boot. It just shut down one day and nothing since. I can hear the fans and see the fans turn for about 1-2 seconds and the blue light that encircles the power button also comes on for 1-2 seconds and then nothing. I have tried new ram in 1 slot as well as both and have also tried the reset of removing battery and power supply holding down power buttton for 30-40 seconds then power supply only back in and turn on but doesnt work. Does anyone have any other thoughts besides motherboard? Thanks a bunch! Dave

sounds like a thermal issue to me. 1 to 2 second power up and then off, sounds like a cpu overheat.

The BIOS battery may have been drained out because the only time it charges is when the laptop is powered on. Check the BIOS battery - you might need to replace it.

I would suggest either taking the laptop in for service to have them remove the case an remove any dust build-up on the heat sinks.
If you're good with a screw-driver, you might try to do the cleaning yourself.
You can't really clean the air vents well without taking apart the laptop.

Hi,

This might have something to do with the battery.

Have you tried to boot it up without the battery in it?

Its possible that your slot could be dirty, you can try re seating the stick and then cleaning it with a brush. If that don't work you can just run it with one stick, last resort is to replace the motherboard.

M675 fan is overheating

Hello!
Have you tried a cooling pad? there are many usb or externally powered multi fanned pads/trays the P.c. can sit on, cool air is directed into the intake.
How are you using the Laptop? is it in a confined space? or on a warm surface? as you are well aware the slightest increase in core temperature will cause safety shut down.
I had a friend with the very same problem he was using his machine inside the case/bag (Silly Billy)
Hope this sorts it!

Gateway FPD1760TFT LCD monitor

Problem
1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

Solution
One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.
