Is the sound coming? if not then you have to install in the sound card driver to be able to to get the headset icon back.

IF you are in Windows 7: -
1. Click "Control Panel" > "Sound" > "Recording"
2. Place cursor over "Microphone - Logitech Wireless Headset Default Device".
3. Right Click and select "Properties"
4. Click the "Listen" Tab
5. Uncheck the "Listen to this device"
6. Click "Apply",. and "OK"
That will eliminate you hearing any nose picked up by the microphone. Others will still be able to hear your voice as long as you have the headset as your default microphone.

Hp pavillion converted into windows 7 ultimate from windows vista and sound does not function. downloaded sound driver for windows 7 but does not work still. please help...

Hi,
Try 'roll back driver', follow these steps;
- Open Device Manger from the Windows 7 Control Panel.
- In Device Manager, locate the device that you want to roll back the driver for (her its sound driver). (Navigate through the hardware categories by clicking the > icon. You can find specific devices under these major hardware categories.)
- After finding the hardware you're rolling back the driver for, right click on the device's name or icon and click on Properties.
- In the Properties window for the device, click the Driver tab.
- On the Driver tab, click the Roll Back Driver button. (If the Roll Back Driver button is disabled, Windows 7 does not have a previous driver to roll back to so you won't be able to complete this process.)
- Click the Yes button to the "Are you sure you would like to roll back to the previously installed driver software?" question.
The previously installed driver will now be restored. You should see the Roll Back Driver button as disabled after the roll back is complete.
- Click the Close button at the bottom of the device properties screen.
- Click Yes on the System Settings Change dialog box that says "Your hardware settings have changed. You must restart your computer for these changes to take effect. Do you want to restart your computer now?"
DONE, Hope this helps,
Please rate if this solution was helpful, thanks!

Hi I have ACER 4738Z Laptop in which i have windows 7 installed, But i have audio problem in that, like in the Volume control it shows as not muted but there is no sound either in speaker or either in...

Try to check the sound level. For an Acer laptop/ Windows 7 operating system, you can set the audio to zero but it does not say it is muted. Just click on the sound icon and the sound level should appear. Adjust the sound level and that should allow you to hear something.
If this does not work, try to go to the control panel (start > control panel > change the view to small icons > choose sound ) You should be able to see there two available sound drivers. Enable the one that says Realtec.

On my toshiba n305 notebook speaker sound is barely audible even at highest volume level. it is fine with earphones. tried everything. is it designed that way or something can be done? thanks

If you're on Vista/Windows 7, follow these instructions to enable Loudness Equalization. This significantly boosted the volume of my laptop speakers.
Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound
Double click on your default sound device (it will have a green check on its icon). Go to the Enhancements tab. Check Loudness Equalization, and hit apply. That should boost up any super-quiet noises.

Cant get scanner to work

PROBLEM SOLUTION :

1. Don't install software/drivers form the HP CD. If already done, uninstall them using setup.exe from this CD

2. Connect the psc2210 USB cable to the PC. Windows will load divers from Internet but will not be able to install two of them: "psc2200 Series" and " Hewlet Packard psc2200 Series ". Repair assistant will not be able to fix the problem either (probably the Windows 7 bug).

3. In the « Control Panel->Hardware and Sound services », activate "Device Manager" found under « Devices and Printers ».

4. Under « Other devices » look for « HP psc2200 Series » with a small « bulb » icon, bearing a yellow question mark. . Select « update driver » for this icon : Windows scans Internet and installs the related driver , followed by the message « Windows has successfully updated driver for your device HP psc2200 series »

5. In « Device Manager the «HP psc2200 series » now appears under « Imaging Devices ».

6. In the Control Panel, under « Devices->Printers and Faxes » the icon of the HP psc2200 series is now shown without the error warning. Clicking on this icon offers several choices, "Start scan" being one of them

My sound from my laptop turned scratchy

Try using an external speaker or headset. If the the scratchy issue does not happen again then its your internal speaker. If the issue persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling your Audio Driver. Make sure that you have the disc that came with your computer for reinstallation of the audio driver.

If you have Windows XP:

[Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs] to see if there is a dedicated removal program and if so use it.

More likely you'll have to go to [Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > (Your sound card) > Driver > Uninstall], a reboot will almost certainly be required.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 follow this:

1. Open the Control Panel (Classic View).

2. Click on the Device Manager icon.

3. Click on Continue in the UAC prompt.

4. Click on the + sign next to the device you want to uninstall to expand it. (See screenshot below step 5)

5. Right click on the listed device and click on Properties.
NOTE: You can also click on Uninstall and go to step 8 instead.5439d1232212816t-uninstall-device-device-driver-device_manager.jpg
6. Click on the Driver tab. (See screenshot below step 7)

7. Click on the Uninstall button. 5440d1232212816t-uninstall-device-device-driver-properties.jpg
8. To Uninstall Only the Device -
NOTE: This will only uninstall the device and leave the device driver still installed for the device.A) Uncheck the Delete the driver software for this device box. (See screenshot below step 9)
NOTE: If you do not have this option, then only the device will be uninstalled. Go to step 10.

B) Click on OK.
NOTE: Sometimes, you may be prompted to restart the computer to finish uninstalling the driver. If you do, then click on Yes to restart the computer.

B) Go to step 10.
9. To Uninstall the Device and Device Driver -
NOTE: This will uninstall both the device and device driver software installed for the device. A) Check the Delete the driver software for this device box.
NOTE: If you do not have this option, then only the device will be uninstalled. Go to step 10.

B) Click on OK.
NOTE: Sometimes, you may be prompted to restart the computer to finish uninstalling the driver. If you do, then click on Yes to restart the computer.
5441d1217535876-uninstall-device-device-driver-confirm.jpg
10. Device Manager will now no longer have the device listed. (See screenshot below)5442d1232212816t-uninstall-device-device-driver-device_manager_uninstalled.jpg
11. Close Device Manager. (See screenshot below step 5)

Restart your computer. Once the computer restarts, it will automatically detect your hardware. Or you can manually install the driver that came with your computer

Headset isn't recognized by computer and audio doesn't go through headset

With the infamous Vista, try:
Start --> Control panel --> Hardware and sound --> Sound --> Audio devices admin [I have a Spanish OS, I hope it is the same in the English version], then assign as default device the headset.

With Skype and other sw, you have to specifically pick the lx-3000 as the device that will be used as audio device (and the same has to be done to use the mic).

Pretty cumbersome....
