Question about HP Scanjet G4050 Flatbed Scanner
Try to scan and get message "A required software component was not found or improperly installed. Please reinstall the software."
Get message when I try to scan a picture, scan film, scan a document, but NOT make copies (that works).
I have updated drivers uninstalled and reinstalled. Same error.

Go to the control panel and look under cameras and scanners.Then look under events.You should be able to figure it out from there.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
or C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin
Double Left Click on the executable file:
You will NOT see anything happen but it will get your program destinations setup correctly and hopefully remove the error. This sometimes happens when you change printers and old stuff stays on your PC.
