Cannot install printer/scanner

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help me i have a printer already installed on my comp a hp deskjet 5650 i am trying to install an hp psc 1317 which i bought about 2 years ago but it was installed on my son's comp. I want o installit on mine cause i need to use the scanning facility. When i try to install it i put the disc hp 1310 series in and a message is coming up saying " insert the hp all-in-one cd labelled windows (R) i do not seem to have this but i don't hink i got this disc with it. My windows was already installed when i bought it
