Does the cooler need to have the water pump out

When It was installed the hose that lets the water out was not installed. Where is the water going? Was installed correctly?

My 2001 Mercedes Benz ML430 heat up slowey I turn the car off n back get gets warm then it gets cooler as I drive what do you think the problem could be I change the thermostat and the water pump ok


Check your radiator and see if it is full . If not that could be the problem. Check your hoses and see if any are pinched.
could be an air lock in your system.
Water pump may not be working properly. Just an idea.
A plugged or blocked radiator will not let the fluid flow enough to heat all the time. Does your heat gauge go up where it should be if not your new thermostat may not be working right. Is it installed properly? I installed one upside down one day and it did the same as yours.

I swap out the heater core and may hav installed the hoses wrong.I hooked up the hose from water pump to lower fitting and return hose on top fitting


It usually doesn't matter-it just circulates coolant through the core and returns it. But the hose going to the water pump is the return hose from the core. The other hose from the cylinder head or intake manifold is where the coolant comes from and going to the heater core. Take off the hose at the water pump and you will see a stream coming out with the engine running and the heater control on hot. Try this and if the stream is not good, try swapping the hoses at the core- I mean take the hose to water pump and fit it to the core's upper hose, and the inlet hose to the lower fitting. It shouldn't matter, but let us know.

I need to know what the pipe is called that the lower rad hose hooks up to on the 1998 plymouth grand voyager mini van 3.0L, 3 speed automatic ?


if you follow the pipe does it go towards the transmission ? if so it's for the trans cooler. If not it will be the escape hose incase of overheating/to much pressure in the coolant system , if you go to a parts retailer like autozone they will have the part named on their data system , its a bit difficult without seeing vehicle to name parts . although you have given a good description, the lower rad hose carries cooled coolant so i would think it's the trans cooler but check at autozone or similar

How to replace a radiator on a1994 toyota land cruiser

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Drain engine coolant.
  3. Remove battery and tray,
  4. Remove radiator grille
  5. Disconnect No. 3 water bypass hose.
  6. Disconnect radiator inlet hose.
  7. Disconnect coolant reservoir hose.
  8. Loosen water pump pulley mounting bolts.
  9. Loosen lock, pivot and adjusting bolts of alternator and remove drive belts.
  10. Disconnect oil cooler hose from clamp on fan shroud, then remove shroud.
  11. Remove water pump pulley mounting nuts.
  12. Remove fan with fluid coupling, water pump pulley and fan shroud.
  13. Disconnect transmission oil cooler hoses.
  14. Disconnect radiator outlet hose.
  15. Remove radiator brackets, then the radiator.
  16. Reverse procedure to install.

WARNING
This procedure requires the removal of the timing belt. This is an extensive procedure requiring precision work, particularly at assembly. For more information, refer to Timing Belt Removal and Installation. Do not attempt to remove the belt without consulting the procedure; extreme engine damage may occur.   1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the timing belt. For additional information, please refer to the following topic(s): Timing Belt Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the idler pulley.
  4. Remove the thermostat.
  5. Disconnect the oil cooler hose from the pump.
  6. Remove the seven bolts and the tension spring bracket and then remove the water pump. To install:
  7. Clean all parts well. It is good practice to carefully clean all threaded openings, especially those exposed to coolant to remove rust and scale so at assembly, an accurate torque reading is obtained. This is important since gasketless applications like this depend on even clamp loads from the fasteners to avoid distortion and leaks. Remove any old sealer (Toyota calls it packing) from the pump and mounting area of the engine. Keep oil off the mating areas.
  8. Apply Formed In Place Gasket (FIPG) sealer to the pump-to-block mating surface and then tighten the bolts marked A in the illustration to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm). Tighten those marked B to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). NOTE: The parts must be installed within 5 minutes of application of the sealant. Otherwise you must remove and reapply the sealer.
  9. Connect the oil cooler hose.
  10. Install the thermostat with a new gasket.
  11. Install the idler pulley.
  12. Install the timing belt.
  13. Install the drive belts and adjust the tension.
  14. Refill the cooling system and check for leaks.
2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. If equipped with an air conditioning compressor or power steering pump drive belts, it may be necessary to loosen the adjusting bolt, remove the drive belt(s) and move the component(s) out of the way.
  4. Remove the fluid coupling with the fan and water pump pulley.
  5. Remove the water pump. To install:
  6. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
  7. Install the replacement water pump using a new gasket.
  8. Install the water pump pulley and fluid coupling with the fan.
  9. Install the removed engine drive belts.
  10. Fill the cooling system.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  12. Bleed the cooling system.

The drain hose pumps out too much water.


Yes it is if it is very humid and hot you know your unit is working very good. You can take the hose out farther from that spot. Set up a bird bath and let the birds enjoy a bath. just a idea.

Water pump is leaking? i think? upper hose is hot lower hose is cooler but not cold. leak is coming from near the alternator.


Water pumps leak when they start going bad... it's kind of a warning sign before they let loose. So there's a good chance that you're right.

IN-VEHICLE SERVICE Water Pump SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set T90T-9550-S
Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system. Refer to Section 03-03 .
  1. Loosen drive belt tensioner (6B209) and remove drive belt (8620). Refer to Section 03-05 .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Disconnect lower radiator hose (8286) from radiator lower hose tube (8291) and radiator (8005).
  1. Disconnect radiator lower hose tube from water pump (8501).
  1. Remove lower nut on both front engine support insulators (6038).
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Remove generator (GEN) (10346) from power steering pump support (3C511).
  1. Position drain pan and disconnect power steering pressure line from power steering pump (3A674) using Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set T90T-9550-S.
  1. Remove power steering reservoir filler cap.
  1. stw~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: If using a prying device to assist in water pump removal, be careful not to damage the mating surfaces.
    Disconnect water bypass hose (8597) and oil cooler hose (6B850) from heater water outlet tube (18663).
  1. Remove retaining bolts and disconnect heater water outlet tube from water pump.
  1. Remove A/C bracket brace.
  1. Attach engine lifting eye to left-hand (front) exhaust manifold (9430).
  1. Attach lifting equipment to engine lifting eye and raise front of engine approximately 51 mm (2.0 inches) to provide necessary clearance for water pump removal.
  1. Remove water pump pulley retaining bolts and water pump pulley (8509).
  1. Remove drive belt tensioner pulley retaining bolt and drive belt tensioner pulley (6B217) from power steering pump support.
  1. Remove power steering pump support retaining bolts and nut. Place power steering pump and support assembly aside in a position to prevent fluid leakage.
  1. Remove water pump retaining bolts and nuts and water pump. Discard used water pump housing gasket (8507).
Installation
  1. NOTE: Lightly oil all bolt and stud bolt threads before installation except those specifying special sealant.

    Clean gasket surfaces on water pump and engine front cover (6019).
  1. NOTE: The threads of the No. 1 engine front cover retaining stud must be coated with Pipe Sealant with Teflon® D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 before installing.

    NOTE: Gasket and Trim Adhesive D7AZ-19B508-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2G52-A is recommended to hold the water pump housing gasket in position.

    Position a new water pump housing gasket on water pump housing sealing surface.
  1. Position water pump on the engine front cover. Install retaining bolts.
  1. Position power steering pump support and install retaining nuts and bolts. Tighten bolts and nuts to 40-55 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Install drive belt tensioner pulley and retaining bolt. Tighten bolt to 70-95 Nm (52-70 lb-ft).
  1. Install A/C bracket brace.
  1. Position water pump pulley on water pump hub and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8.0-11.5 Nm (71-101 lb-in).
  1. Lower engine and disconnect lifting equipment from lifting eye.
  1. Remove lifting eye from exhaust manifold.
  1. Connect heater water outlet tube to water pump and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-11.5 Nm (71-101 lb-in).
  1. Connect water bypass hose and oil cooler hose to heater water outlet tube. Tighten clamps securely.
  1. Connect power steering pressure line to power steering pump fitting.
  1. Install power steering reservoir filler cap.
  1. Install generator to power steering pump support. Refer to Section 14-02 .
  1. Connect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Install lower nut on front engine support insulators and tighten retaining nut to 88-119 Nm (65-87 lb-ft). Install lower nut of rear engine support insulator and tighten to 77-104 Nm (56-76 lb-ft).
  1. Connect radiator lower hose tube to water pump. Install retaining bolt and tighten securely.
  1. Connect lower radiator hose to radiator lower hose tube and radiator. Position hose clamps securely. Refer to Section 03-03 .
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Position drive belt over drive belt tensioner and release drive belt tensioner. Refer to Section 03-05 .
  1. stw~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: This engine has aluminum cylinder heads (6049) and requires a special corrosion inhibiting coolant to avoid cooling system damage. Refer to Section 03-03 for the coolant specifications.
    Fill and bleed cooling system with specified coolant.
  1. Fill power steering pump reservoir with specified fluid.
  1. Start engine and check for coolant and power steering fluid leaks. Service as necessary.

Please help


take off fan and fan shroud. then the radiator hose. then the 6 - 8 bolts that hold the water pump on. clean surface of block where gasket would go. use rtv sealant on water pump and seat the gasket to it. let it sit for 10 mins. then install water pump, hoses and fan and fan shroud. if you need more help you can go to your local parts store and pick up a haynes manual. this will have more detail and pics too.
