Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook
Go to Dell Support, then Drivers and Downloads, and in the place provided, enter your Service Tag# (always 7 characters, both letters an numbers). You will immediately be routed to the driver download page for your laptop. Under the category "Chipset" you will find 2 driver downloads; 1. Intel Chipset, 2. Ricoh. Download these by SAVING them to your desktop. Install the Intel Chipset first, reboot and then install Ricoh.
At this point all your bus controllers and a host of others will be properly installed. Every other driver for your laptop will be on that page. It would be a good thing if you took the time to download them all to a folder on the desktop and then burn that folder to a CD. You will have made your own XP Driver Recovery CD.
