Question about Printers & Copiers

4 Answers

Cannot print I Photo photos using my cannon S900 using my IMac OSX operating system It prints letters, copies EMail such as order confirmations in color. Trying to print a photo from I Photo yields only about a half inch before the S900 stops printing. This began after i tried printing directly to a 4 X 6 printing paper. Thanks for your help Harold Stern drhal@optonline.net PS I just downloaded the appropriate driver from the Cannon Web Site

I would recommend a solid reset of settings in the printer. Restore everything into factory defaults then make the changes you need in order to print correctly.

If that doesnt fix the problem. Try to reinstall the mac program you are useing to print. Also reinstalling the drivers might work.

Some printer drivers may not be compatible with the custom print dialog
offered by iPhoto. As a result, your pictures don't print, or they do
not correspond to the expected output (wrong color, wrong size, and so
    forth).

Use one or more of the following workarounds to resolve the issue:

    • Print from the Advanced Options pane.

      1. Choose Print from the File menu.

      2. Change the print options as desired.

      3. Click Advanced Options.

      4. Click Print.Print to PDF.

    • Print to PDF
If printing directly from the Print dialog
does not appear to resolve the issue, try creating a print preview
(PDF). Then, try printing the preview from the Preview
      application.Update the printer driver.

Can you print photos from preview application? have you tried printing a different batch of photo? we are trying to eliminate the variables because it might be that it s on the application that yoiu are having an issue with

    Try this

1 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.,

2 -download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here,
putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and
group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just
drag the folder into that field. Disk Utility only works on
applications and system files, not on user files..

trash canon and reinstall drivers from website, the latest driver.

    try printng

Trying to print on a #10 envelope from iMac 27 with Os 10.5.1 using iWork. Printer will not load paper

I am on an iMac using OSX 10.5.8 and printing on an Epson R1800. With iWork, word processing module I set up the envelope to print and under the File menu, select page setup and choose #10 Envelope with Portrait orientation. I feed the envelope into the printer in the normal horizontal, top first, print surface up. In the File menu I select Print and hit Return. Most of the time this works. Sometimes the envelope feeds through without printing, and occasionally the envelope won't feed but the printer goes through the printing cycle. The R1800 is not the ideal envelope printer. It is made to print photos on photographic paper. I use an old fashioned typewriter to address envelopes.

The PHOTO mode is for printing grayscale photographs. Printed letters using PHOTO mode may appear faint because PHOTO mode is optimized for halftones. See if there is a TEXT or LETTER print mode, and try printing on that setting. If printed letters are still faint, you may have to go into ADVANCED PRINTER PREFERENCES, and see if the TONER SAVE mode is on. If it is, turn TONER SAVE off. Also, try changing the DPI image density, or try other adjustments in the ADVANCED PRINTER PREFERENCES MODE.

Ink super-saturates on glossy photo paper

Is it the fact that it super saturates, or is the paper wrong for the machine, and it is not soaking in?

New Intel MacPro + Epson SP R1800 printer + OSX 10.5.2 = Nightmare.

I managed to solve this problem by, probably, doing what I should've done in the first place: Deleting the printer from the print queue and starting again from scratch.
I read the following instructions from a message from Epson and it pointed me in the right direction. It sounds obvious now, but when you think you've tried everything and you've started to pull your hair out, you can overlook what is staring you in the face.

Message from Epson:
If your output is faint or if the driver settings and/or features are
missing, your system may have automatically added the printer using the
Gutenprint driver. Many Epson drivers are provided with Leopard but the
driver for your printer needs to be downloaded from the Epson website.

Determine Which Driver is Currently Being Used
1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Finder and open
System Preferences.
2. In the System Preferences window, click on Print & Fax.
3. In the list of printers on the left side of the Print & Fax window,
click once on your Epson printer to select it.
4. Check the name of the driver being used; it is displayed in the center
of the Print & Fax window next to “Kind”.
5. If the driver name displayed next to “Kind” is Gutenprint, the incorrect
driver is being used. Follow the steps in the next section to select the
correct driver.

Selecting the Correct Driver
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Delete the print queue and remove the printer from Print & Fax by
clicking on the minus button under the list of printers. Click OK to
confirm the removal.
3. Go to the Epson support website (www.epson.com/support).
4. Select your product model and download the driver for OS X 10.5 Leopard
operating system.
5. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
to install the printer driver.
6. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Finder and open
System Preferences.

The message ended there.
If anyone out there is having a similar problem to me, then I hope this thread helps.
All the best. logan
