Generally you can add more RAM, However, there are too many details that are needed about your system in order determine if an upgrade can be done.

Suggest you call Gateway Support.

I have laptop valiant 5340AS, WITH WINDOWS 98, 4 GB H.D. AND 32 MB RAM, IS POSSIBLE CHANGE TO WINDOWS XP?

The minimum RAM required for XP is 128MB. You could upgrade the memory to 512MB or something. Under 512MB it will not work smooth.
The minimum required HDD is 1.5 GB. You have 4 GB. It is not that much, but it'll work.

The minimum required CPU is 300MHz. If your CPU is less than that, it'll not work.

I personaly would not recommend to upgrade to XP, the laptop may become very slow. i would advise to try it, and if it is not working smooth, then rollback to 98.

If you would like something newer than 98, I would recommend 2000.

Upgrade NEC Versa VX

You can insert the Windows XP CD while logged on Win 98 and run a test from the CD. Obviously you need a larger Hard Disk and at least 126 MB RAM to bring XP to a usable speed. You can look for RAM upgrade options in this page.

I having problem with my ram upgrade

Make sure that the ram is pushed in all the way and also that it is the right ram. This is what should be on the package that you bought, if none of this matches you bought the wrong one.. DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) SO-DIMM

Please repost if this doesn't solve your problem

I have a CPX H500GT. To get it to run XP Pro to run right, max out the ram. And get a larger harddrive. Xp uses a substantial amount of space.
