Question about JVC Audio Players & Recorders

COMPACT COMPONENT SYSTEM MODEL CA-C77BK S/N E15918773 This model has a 6 disc magazine and 1 disc tray. Problem: The tray won't eject and has a disc loaded. Press Open/Close and the door opens properly, unit hums for a few seconds then silence (no eject). I have tried: 1. Unplugging and replugging the power. 2. Tapping on tray while pressing Open/Close. This unit doesn't have a hole for tray release pin insertion. The magazine ejects properly. Of course the unit will not select and play any disc. Thank you kindly, Steve H.

Ii'D LIKE ANOTHER SOLUTION TO REPAIR MY JVC CAC77BK CD PLAYER THAT WON'T EJECT THE TRAY. IT DIDN'T QUIT DURING OPERATION, JUST REFUSES TO OPEN AFTER STARTUP. SHOULD I BE ABLE TO GET INTO AND REPAIR THIS UNIT MYSELF??

Thanks for your research and help on this CA-C77BK problem. I am sorry I left off the brand JVC reference, it must have made it more difficult to search. Thank you kindly for your help. I was afraid my unit would be too old to find repairs. If I can get the tray open and the CD out I think the magazine will play which would be very acceptable.
    Thank you again,
    Steve H.

I searched jvc.com for your model CA-C77BK S/N and couldn't find it even in the archives.

It must be a discontinued unit.

Usually when this happens you have to take the unit apart to retrieve the cd.

I don't think it's worth fixing, as parts don't seem to be available or listed, not even the user's manual online at jvc.com.

However, I did find a link for the service manual for this vintage compact component system:
http://www.vintagemanuals.com/manual.php?manufacturer=JVC&model=CA-C77BK%2C+CA-C99

May I refer you to that manual to try to figure out how to fix this problem.

Unfortunately, it costs $33 for the manual. You'll have to decide if it is worth it to buy it.

Good luck to you in fixing this problem.

Hi,
It sounds loading belt that drives disc tray got cut/ broken so motor hums for few seconds and then stops but disc tray mechanism wont get motor power to unload/ load the tray.
Unit will take apart to replace that loading belt and local tv repair shop will help you to get it fixed.
Thanks.

It depends on your expertise and skills if you want to fix your unit by yourself.

A CD may be stuck between the player unit and the magazine. You can try loading and unloading several times but in extreme cases it is necessary to do some disassembly to get at the disk
