    Golden Technologies Companion I scooter.
Have 24 volts from the batteries going into the printed circuit control module but no voltage coming out to the motor. The horn works as well as the light. I can hear the relay click to reverse direction.
    Is it the controller board?

    Thanks

    John

The above is a parts list for various scooters made by Golden Technologies, and a lot of circuit boards are listed for other models such as the Eagle Standard, for instance.

http://www.goldentech.com/ride/companion/original.php

The above shows information for the companion series of scooter, which you have.

Finally, if you have a relay click and no power to the motor, then I think it might be a relay that is internally having a burnt contact problem.

Also, check the charge on the battery, although, I think that if the circuit board has enough voltage for the circuit board to 'click' the relay, that it's likely this is not the problem, unless the battery is old or the charger is not charging up the battery fully.
---
Here is a detailed list of possible codes that the circuit board can display through self diagnosis.
http://www.goldentech.com/pdf/products/companion_manual.pdf

The above tells me the flashing light codes, You'll need to download Acrobat Reader from Adobe.com (it's a free download), if you don't have that program on your computer system to view the .pdf file for this scooter.

FIGURE 45. MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER RESET
Possible causes for the main circuit breaker to trip:
• Low tire pressure can cause the motor to overload and trip the main circuit breaker.
(see “ Wheels and Tires” in this section of this manual and see section X. “Diagnostics”)
• Run-down batteries.
As you operate your Companion, battery voltages go down and battery current must
rise to satisfy the demands of the motor and of other electrical devices operating on your
scooter. This can cause a heavy current draw that will trip the main circuit breaker.
Remedy:
• Recharge your Companion’s batteries. See “Charger and Batteries” in this section of
this manual.
• If the problem continues, have your authorized Golden Technologies, Inc. dealer load
test the batteries.
• If the batteries are good, the charger may be the problem. Consult your authorized
Golden Technologies, Inc. dealer.
Resetting the Main Circuit Breaker
If the main circuit breaker trips as a result of run-down batteries or because of a temporary
overload, reset the circuit breaker:
1. Wait a minute or so for the motor control board to return to the normal operating
temperature range.
2. Make certain that the key switch is set to the “Off” position.
3. Press in on the main circuit breaker reset button. See figure 45.
NOTE: If the main circuit breaker continues to trip, there is probably an underlying
electrical fault that needs attention.

Good luck on fixing this problem and contact me if you need anything else!

I read some more and it says that if the green light is constant, it has enough charge.

So, I think the relay may be burnt, and that this is serviceable through the dealer, if you cannot do it yourself.

I wish you luck in this repair.

    Good day.

If the unit's trouble codes are flashed and the green light is on and you hear clicking at the relay, I would think that the circuit board is alright, but the relay is burnt somehow.

Try to replace the relay which shouldn't cost too much if still available from the manufacturer.

If this doesn't work I would be surprised.

You see, the relay has a contact inside that if burnt, you'll hear it clicking, but no voltage will go to the motor.

    OK?

I wish you luck in repairing this problem and thanks for submitting your questions to Fixya.com.

Hi, if the starter motor will turn over when you jump a wire to the brown wire on the starter solenoid then you know that the starter motor is fine. Similarly if the starter relay clicks then you know that the ignition switch and the park/neutral safety switch is OK. So that leaves the relay's internal contacts not conducting due to oxidation or the brown wire from the in-board most pin of the relay socket (30) to the starter motor solenoid is 'open'. Try jumping from the battery to that in-board pin and if the starter motor fires up then the relay's internal contacts have to be bad. Try swapping that relay with another one to verify that is the case. If the jump to the relay pin doesn't cause the motor to energize, then the wire is open.
If your starter relay clicks, then the ignition switch for that part of the circuit is OK.

Take care

The motor is ok - checked by resistance and power.

There is 24 volts going into the printed circuit controller but no voltage coming out to the motor. Can hear the reversing relay click.

Has to be that board unless there is a control circuit going in on one other other connectors.

    Thanks.

    John

P.S. We are talking about a Golden Technologies Companion I scooter right?

Golden companion II full charge turn key on press lever to go forward it dont move hear clicking sound green light on dash blinks

John count the number of flashes by the green light and it will be the fault code indicating the problem Your owners manual should list the fault codes to be able to determine what the problem is. Ie 4 blinks pause 4 blinks pause. The clicking you hear is the electric brakes being engaged. Hope this helps

Joe with a scooter there can be a number of things wrong to cause your problem Since the motor turns and you have power at the console. It could be the throttle pot or the speed pot or both or it could be the cable that runs from the console to the rear of the scooter and finally a problem with the controller. But that would also give some sort of error to the console light if it is equiped with a power light. If Medicare paid for your scooter then they will pay most of the cost of repair. Your provider can work on it for you or they can contact a repair service that will fix it for you Hope this helps

Green light flashes 9 times will not go

Hi. Different brands of controllers give different fault codes. If this is a dynamic controller, 9 flashes is the code for a faulty controller. This does not always mean that the controller is actually at fault.
It could be a burn't out brake solenoid, that now has a different resistance through the solenoid coil.
You mention the middle speed green light is flashing, normally on dynamic controllers, it is the most left battery level LED that flashes. You might have a different controller.
Have a look under the panels and let us know what controller your machine has.
You could try the agents, and see if they can tell you what the problem is.
Good luck. Neil.

Golden Companion Scooter not moving - diagnosed via owner manual

Hi. Many scooters will display this fault code if the potentiometer is not exactlly centred when you turn on the key. The pot is not always faulty. Some scooters also have a smaller additional pot to controll the speed. If this pot is faulty it will cause the same fault code. Any other switches such as indoor/ outdoor switches. I have had a few machines fitted with curtis controllers where the fault is in the controller.
Check the wiring and plugs and connectors.
Good luck. Neil.
