Either the power switch is broken (which is not likely), or more likely to have bad DC filter caps in the power supply.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP and ALL other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Normally, monitors will show green (or other color) when there is a video signal available.
Amber is fairly common to announce 'I'm here if you need me.'

Vga failure

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.

Small rectangle in the middle of the screen with the letter i in the left corner, the buttons are lockeder la hello 17

If the picture disappears from the screen and the
1 (power) indicator is green
1
Turn off the 1 (power) switch and disconnect the
video signal cables from the monitor.
2
Turn the monitor on by pressing the 1 (power)
switch.
If all four color bars appear (white, red, green, blue), the monitor
is working properly. Reconnect the video signal cables and check
the condition of your computer(s).
If the color bars do not appear, there is a potential monitor failure.
Inform your authorized Sony dealer of the monitor's condition.
Be sure to note the model name and serial number of your
monitor. Also note the make and model of your computer and
graphics board.

I have a Westinghouse L1928NV computer monitor that appears to be no longer working. It was fine yesterday but last night the power went out and now it is completely unresponsive. Suggestions? Thanks

charla186, I think that you will need to have it evaluated by a TECH type of person. If unit will not turn on it could have a 'switch-mode-power-supply" failure and / or "backlight" inverter supply failure. You didn't state the AGE and or approximate "ON" hours this unit has. I don't quite know what you mean with "the power went out"?? Power to the whole house or office? or did you mean just the LCD monitor? Here are some options you might try. Warranty??? or Check with Westinghouse about a CASH + old monitor swapout for a fully refurbished same model. Have a local TECH at a TV/ monitor repair shop evaluate it's condition. I will also suggest you visit YOUTUBE and view some short video clips of LCD monitor disassembly just so you know what is inside a typical LCD and then know what the top 2 causes of monitor failure are. In any case get back to me and let me know what you think you will be your plan of action. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol.com Bye for now

No power. will not turn on.

Hello

On/off switches do go bad. The "No Signal" is more likely caused by a loose cable, cable or electronic failure. Generally the refusal to turn on or slow turn on is caused by capacitors on the power supply board which have changed value. Take it to a local repair person or see my website: www.micromendllc.com

Good Luck
