There might be several reasons to this problem.
Please answer the following questions so that I can identify the problem:
    1. Have you reinstalled the OS (Windows) recently?
    2. Have installed the correct and most latest drivers for the device?
    3. Was your sound card working before?

Please answer the above questions so that I can recognize and spot the problem for you.

    Thanks.

  • Hi, click on the "Start Button," in the (right pane) Control Panel, next in the category listings, select Hardware and Sound, open, "Manage Sound Devices." Next, press the "Playback" button, there should be a "Speakers" Icon, highlight, to open; now look below to find the "Properties" button, open this window, there will be (4) four buttons "General, Level... First open the [General] tab, in the top of the window there will be a "Driver" button, select to "Update Driver," You can configure other areas such as the "Speaker Levels..." If you have a "MIC" do the same in the [Recording] category. Note: "Remember to click on the "Apply and OK buttons afterward to make sure the changes take effect." "Restart the computer to finalize the changes. Rating the solution on it helpfulness, its away of letting me know if you resolved the the problem or you need further assistance, thank you."

Hi Gabrielle,

Most likely you need to install drivers for your sound card. To confirm this, please check your device Manager (right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager) for unknown/improperly installed devices.

Please visit you computer manufacturer’s website, and download drivers along with the installation instructions.

Hope this helps! smile.gif quote.gif

When I go to Record there is no sound and the control panels do not move

Make sure the correct source is selected for sound in audio properties (Right click the volume icon near the clock). The device must be the turntable driver.

Make sure you have installed the Numark software BEFORE you plugged in the turntable to your computer for the first time.

If you have done the faux pas above, all the installs in the world will not fix it. You MUST remove the USB driver. Use Device Manager. In XP, this is found by right clicking my computer and selecting properties. In properties select the hardware tab and choose 'Device Manager'.

Stop here. If you have no idea what I wrote, review 'Device Manager' on the Windows Website or ask a KNOWLEDGABLE friend for help. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123.

Now, select the USB device, while it is plugged in to the USB port, and right click. Select 'Uninstall'. Remove your USB device when device manager is done.

Close Device manager and all the other windows. Start your USB install from scratch, without the USB plugged in until the install asks or completes.
I have ALWAYS had successful installs with this method.

If you are asking how to make the internal sound card (built into the main board) work, you need to make sure the correct driver software is installed. You can download the sound drivers from HP here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=34886&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=95524&os=228&lang=en

Downloading and installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer is a good place to start when you have sound problems. Also be sure that the sound devices are properly enabled in the Windows sound setting screens.

If your question refers to how to install some external sound device, normally it is a simple matter of connecting the device and installing any software supplied by the manufacturer. You should refer to any instructions that were supplied with the device.

Cant get sound card working in Windows XP Pro 64 bit

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the software related to your soundcard.

Go to Device Manager and remove the sound card it is the device that has an exclamation point or question mark.

Turn off your PC and remove the Card. Then turn it back on again and enter the BIOS setup and disable the built in sound card of your motherboard then press F10 and save the changes.

Restart your computer and verify that windows is not going to scan for missing devices. Check the Device Manager again and look for any devices that has an exclamation point or question mark. If there is none. Turn off your computer put the sound card back in and turn it on again. Put in the CD Driver but exit on the autorun let windows detect the card automatically and wait for it to ask for the location of the drivers. Point or browse to the driver location and let the installation finish and click on ok. Your PC may ask for another restart do that turn on your speaker and listen for the boot up sound if your hear it then your card is now working.
