You may have a short in your wiring, re-trace all of the speaker wires leaving your receiver and going to each of your speakers and be sure the hot and cold wires are not touching anywhere.
Also be sure your volume is not absolutely cranked up.

What is the fuse for this subwoofer Altec Lansing ACS 300.1 ?

The fuse is for the amplifier. The fuse will tell you the amp rating on it. If the amp for some reason gets a power jump or if something fails the fuse will blow and save your amplifier from getting damaged. Do not put a higher rating fuse in there this will only damage your equipment. It will not make it louder.

Blowing fuses, went to radio shack and replaced fuse with a slow blow 5 amp 125 volt blew it again. Does this imply a problem with the system?

YES it does! There's an overload caused by some semi-conductor (hard to say what) that's acting like it was a piece of wire!
Hunt around the electronic parts, you might see a burnt or damaged part if your lucky.

Altec Lansing ada745 fuse

It is written on the sub. You can also take it out or look at the spare which is taped to the power cord wall plug. I believe it's T1A 250V fuse

Speakers Died?

No, I think you've fried only the fuse of Altec Lansing. Check at the back of the main unit (subwoofer) if there's a fuse box (should look like head of the plastic bolt). If not than turn it off, unplug it and open op the main unit and check for the fuse. It should look like this:0a68355.jpg

If the metal wire inside of it is broken than you should buy new fuse of same amperage (it should be engraved on metal part of the fuse or printed on glass tube).

Output board for Altec Lansing ADA995

I had the same problem. One day I heard two pops and the speaker, including the power light, were dead. Neither Dell nor Altec Lansing support them. They're throw-aways, unless you know a genius electronics technician.
