You need to first identify what key you need to enter the bios ( or setup utility).
(IBM is F1, dell and other brands of laptops are different)

To navigate the setup utility - no mouse is needed, you use the keyboard.

then enable the mouse or synaptics pad and reboot.

Hope it works for you. function hideBox(){ box.hide(); } window.addEvent('domready', function(){ $$('.attached_img').each(function(el){ el.addEvent('click', function(){ box = new StickyWin.Modal({ content: 'mouse connected to laptop is - '+this.get('src')+''+''+ 'close' + '' , hideOnClick: true //relativeTo:$$('body') //evalScripts: true, //caption: 'You Must Be Logged In To Do That!' }); }); }); });

I bout retractable travel mouse and doesn't seem to work on my labtop

It may have a manufacturing defect. Have you tried it on another computer? If it works on another computer, see whether it works when connected to a different USB port on the laptop. If it does, then you may have a bad or damaged USB port on the laptop. If it works on another computer but still does not work on the laptop when connected through an alternate port, then see whether some other device will work when attached to the laptop's USB port. If neither the mouse nor the other device work when connected to a USB port, then you have a problem with the USB controller. If an alternate device does work when connected to the USB ports of the laptop, and if the mouse works when connected to another computer but does not work when connected to the laptop, then you have a software problem, and probably need to change the mouse driver in a control panel or setting in the operating system of your laptop.

My mouse doesn't work on my laptop

for some mouses, there is an installation cd and you should install before you connect your mouse in usb slot.

If there is no installation CD then the wire connecting mouse to usb must have been ruptured

After not using my laptop for several months (it was plugged in however) my USB mouse will not work now when I boot up my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Here are some trouble shooting steps you can try relatively easily....
If the mouse connects via a USB cable, try connecting it on another USB port while the laptop is on.
If it is an optical mouse, check to see if the LED(s) underneath are lit. Change ports until LED lights.
If you have another computer also with a USB mouse and it is working, try a mouse exchange. If the non-working mouse also does not work on the other computer and the mouse from the other computer works on your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the problem is likely with the non-working mouse.
Finally, If the non-working mouse is a wireless one, its battery may be dead. Try a new battery in it.

My mouse just stopped working so I disconnected it from my laptop. Now when I try to connect it the computer is not finding the hardware. What should I do?

Probably the mouse is already defective. To confirm though, try using the mouse in another PC, if it works, try connecting it again to your laptop. If it works then fine, if still not, try using another port if this is a USB mouse. If still your mouse will not work, try using a known good mouse in your laptop, this should work and in this case just buy a new mouse. If however a known good mouse will still not work on your laptop, then another possibility is the USB ports are disabled. You can enable this by entering the unit BIOS setup which is normally done during power-on before the unit boots up in the OS.

Lenovo n500 laptop ... mouse pad not working

The mouse pad maybe faulty or the ribbon cable from the mouse pad to the motherboard may not be properly connected. Reseat this cable.
You can connect an USB optical mouse to the laptop. I prefer you use a USB mouse all the time over the mouse pad.

My Bluetooth mouse will not work on my laptop...

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it. This should connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly. If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the button on the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
