How to Play AVCHD with Sony DSC-HX5V on VLC Media Player?

After recording some HD videos with the new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V, do you want to play the videos on computer? You may face the problem that the full HD videos at 60 fps in .mts file format do not play properly, and the playback on VLC is choppy.

If the VLC media play shows the HX5V .mts video, but with pixelation or interlaces, you can adjust VLC to see if the video playback on VLC is perfect without interlacing artifacts. Just play the video as normal videos on Mac, and right click on the player to choose Video > Deinterlace and choose the options like Discard, Blen, Mean, Bob, Linear, X, Yadif, Yadif (2x).

If the above solution does not work for you, you may try Mac Sony DSC-HX5V MTS converter to deinterlace AVCHD, convert HD .mts to HD .mov, HD .mpg for VLC media player. The output HD MOV is compatible to QuickTime too. Here are the simple steps to convert Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5 .mts to HD .mov with Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.

Step 1. Load Sony DSC-HX5V videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.

Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony DSC-HX5V MTS converter, and click the Add button to load .mts videos.

Step 2. Choose HD .mov output.
Click the Format option and choose HD Video > H.264 AC3 HD Video(*.mov) for converting .mts to .mov.

Tips: The Mac Sony DSC-HX5V MTS converter will convert 1080i AVCHD to 1920x1080 by default. If you records videos at 1440x1080, you can click the Settings button and change video resolution by choosing 1440x1080 from the drop down menu.

Step 3. Convert Sony DSC-HX5V .mts to HD .mov.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the conversion from Sony DSC-HX5V .mts to QuickTime HD .mov starts immediately.
When the conversion is finished, you can play 1080p videos on VLC without interlaces or choppy problem on Mac. Your QuickTime will play the HD .mov videos seamlessly too. The Mac Sony DSC-HX5V MTS converter would work perfectly on Mac Leopard, Snow Leopard for your iMac, MacBook Pro.

PLAY HD CONTENT IN YOUR LOW PROCESSOR SPEED PC TOO.

Playing HD content in your pc which got low processing speed with lots of lagging and poor synchronization of audio and video, has become a great issue. Here is the solution for that problem.

Step 1 : Download Media Player Classic - Home Cinema from : http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/.

Step 2 : Download Core AVC Video Decoder from http://hotfile.com/dl/47202507/bb451dd/CoreAVC_H264_Video_Codec_Pro_v2.0.0.rar.html
Or
http://rapidshare.com/files/396874926/CoreAVC_H264_Video_Codec_Pro_v2.0.0.rar

Step 3 : Install Media Player Classic Home Cinema. And now install CoreAVC Video decoder.

Step 4 : Open Media Player Classic Home Cinema. And click VIEW->OPTION.

Step 5 : OPTION windows appears. Select "External Filters " and click "Add Filter" and then select "CoreAVC Video Decoder" from the list and click OK.

Step 6 : In that same "External Filters" window choose "prefer" radio button visible under " add filter" button. Click OK.

Step 7 : You are DONE. Now your Laptop/PC will play HD content easily. Sometimes this Decoder is supported by Windows Media Player and it will also play the HD content easily after you follow the above steps properly.

Note : In some cases, when you install the Core AVC Video Decoder, even Windows Media Player and other media player make use of it and you can run any kind of video files, even you can run FULL HD Videos in Windows Media Player Itself.

The Media Player Home Classic is preferred because, it buffers the whole video first (very fastly) and then it plays. Hence there is no lag in playing Videos.

Thank You.

When using a hd cable for games no sound except a horrible wail?

Maybe the blu-ray/game part of your drive is failing, which won't read the sound properly. I had a drive that wouldn't read any audio, but did play the video.

Hi Marc,

Please find the solution to your problem as below :-

If your videos play well on your camcorder and they are not playing well in the computer , then it's for sure that the problem is with the computer's video codecs.

I request you to please install this codec pack in your computer http://bit.ly/jcE1I0

When you install the K lite codec pack you would have an application installed called as media player classic , this application can be found in the K lite codec pack menu under programs in start menu.

If it does not work , then you can download this player http://bit.ly/j6upC1
It's called as the VLC media player and it's considered one of the best video players with all the required video codecs , so it will surely play your HD files properly.

If both these players do not play your video which is least probable , you need to make sure that you have installed the video drivers from your motherboard CD and when you find you have not installed them , then please install it and your problem will be solved.

Hope this helps ..:)

AUDIO AND VIDEO PROBLEMS IN HD

To play HD content you need a computer that can support it. Older computers with outdated and integrated graphics cards that don't specifically support HD won't be able to play that content. Sorry.

HD-A3 Movies Don't Play Video, but Menus are fine?

Might be a resolution issue, the menus are most likely in 480, while the video might be in a resolution not supported by your tv. Try changing the resolution and see what happens.

Its not designed to play HD DVDs, the model has HDMI connection in order to connect to latest output devices, viz flats panels and LCD tvs there by having a common audio and video cable. your model has a feature to upscale the normal DVD singal to match the quality output of hull HD TVs, hence the HDMI out put, do not confuse this with HD compatiability.

Go to the link below to check the full specs of your system.

though yours is a high end set, but its not HD disc compatiable.
