The Altura 68 inch Ceiling Fan (model 68-ATR) turns slowly

When I select the low speed on the remote, it barely turns. The high speed selection turns faster but not at a high speed.

SOURCE: Altura 68" Ceiling Fan

That's because it's 68" across, even though it uses the name motor inside as a 52" fan.

SOURCE: can't find light kit for altura 68 in.

The front desk at Home Depot was able to show us a small picture of the $49.95 light kit. They told me that it handles three (60 Watt) E17 bulbs. They however told me that the number to order is HD 569358. Maybe the number is different based on finish. Mine is oil rubbed bronze.

What make is the fan? Is the remote receiver built into the fan? If not, you should be able to get a transmitter & receiver package and add to fan.

If there's no reverse switch on the fan you won't be able to unless you put the remote back. Also, It should be going counter clockwise.

Fan won't reverse though it has before

It could be 1 of 3 things. 1) Receiver unit, 2) Sender (Remote), 3) Motor. For my brand new ceiling fan it turned out it was the motor.

Altura 68" fans will not operate on high speed.

I jtoo, ust bought The Altura (68" fan from home depot)
Home depot makes hampton bay through various chinese manufacturers.................
The fan ran slow on high speed, and barely ran on medium or low.
home depot gave me a number for their tech department that knew right away.....that the capacitor(s) are defective in many of the Altura fans.
They are sending the capacitors in 3 days to me no charge.
They are located under the fan ( remember the white square plastic plug you had to connect and the 2 wires for the optional light kit?.....)That plug is for the capacitors that everyone is having a problem with.
My guess is they are under rated for a fan that big and are sending better ones to those with problems.
Hope this helps.
The number is:

The Hampton Bay Altura Ceiling fan functions only with remote.

I contacted the manufacturer (kingofffans.com) after my Altura fan would run on high speed only and the remote would not control any thing. They said their was a manufacturing defect with a capacitor that affected many of the Altura fans. We are now on a waiting list for a new capacitor and housing, because they did not have enough replacement parts.

High speed only 60rpm

I too just installed a 68" Altura and noticed a huge difference in fan speed. I spoke to a rep for the manufactorer and found out that the high, medium, and low rpms are 70, 45, and 25. The typical 52" fan has rpm speeds of 190, 130, and 75. The kicker is airflow. The 68" moves 7,808, 4,417, and 2,953 cfms on high, medium, and low; the 52" fans move 5,503, 4,087, and 2,509 cfms.
