If you are not that really familiar with the internal components of the camera, I suggest not to open it. There is a good chance that you might not be able to put it back or worst case scenario, you might accidentally damage other components within. Let the Pro's do the job for you. Visit your nearest camera shop and have it diagnosed. After all it might not be just the gears or mechanical parts of the camera.
