Hello,

Welcome to Fixya.

There are several versions of those Kenmore stacker machines, ( built by Whirlpool, Frigidaire, etc ) if you could provide the model number it will eliminate any possible mis-understanding on how to repair your machine.

The one thing they all have in common however is they are serviced from the front, not the back.

I`ll watch for your reply and we can move forward from there.

    Thanks for the reply.

**unplug the dryer from the wall before attempting any repairs...safety first.**

I also recommend you video this as you do it or take photos for reference to re-assemble the unit.

To acces the heater for that machine you`ll need to remove the top panel, screws are all around. Then remove the front of the dryer, if you get up top of that thing and look down to the front you`ll see a screw on each side which must also be removed.

The biggest challenge may be getting the front off by yourself.

Remove the square panel just above the washer lid, and the galvanized metal panel behind it.

Just below the control panel will be a couple of screws which must also be removed. Unplug the wiring harness which connect`s the washer & dryer to the controls and there will also be wires going to the door switch and light ( if yours has the light ) and then the entire front should come off.

Once the front is off and out of the way, you must undo the belt & lift out the drum assembly. For the rest of the procedure, check out the link, the freestanding dryers are exactly the same apart from the front & top we covered here...

Let me know how it goes or if you need any further assistance.

    Good luck.

Dbsr463eg7ww no heat

First check to see that the exhaust venting line is clear (not full of lint) as well as the path in the dryer to the line. This is the most common cause of no heat.
Second set the knob to heat turn on dryer with the lights off and the door open but the "open door" switch so that it still rotates with the door open. Look at the back of the rotating drum for a orange/red glow behind the drum (the heater coils). If there is no glow the heater coils are probably broken.
As the dryers age, the amount of thermal cycles the heater elements go through until the point when the coil wire breaks. There usually two heater coils behind the rotating drum (one hotter than the other and when combined the hottest heat temperature setting. You will need to pop open the top where you see the belt that turns the drum. The belt is removed from the spring loaded tensioner pulley at the base of the dryer. Then you can lift the drum out to get to the heater coils. Since no heat, both should be broken and will require replacement.

My dryer won't heat up. where is fuse box for kenmore stackable 41794813301

Behind this drum on the upper left hand corner is the fuse

11_3_2011_1_26_40_am.jpg
If it was tripped however the dryer would not operate as it is tied into the door switch.

You can get a restring kit for less than 20 bucks for these

11_3_2011_1_29_20_am.jpg
Get top off then the controls off there then remove the front like this:

The heater is on the back side of the drum so it has to come on out
I did a repair on a similar dryer last year and took some photos

It doesn't heat up and it's not the breaker.

may be heater coil, located inside machine on back right side. unplug dryer, open dryer door and remove screws, with a flat tip screw drive gently pry on each top corner till it pops off, gently move panel forward and disconnect door switch. sit panel aside, lift top all the way up it is clipped on the back so it will not fall off. look to the back and right and the coil looks like a spring, it is easy to change, all you need to do is will the make and model call a appliance store and they can tell the price for a new one. good luck tim

How to replace ge dryer heating element

you will need to remove the drum for this one.  once it is out, the element is mounted on the back of the unit.  not a hard repair, just lay out the parts as you take it apart to give you some order as you re-assemble it.

I have a Kenmore stackable washer and dryer and when ever you turn the dryer off you can hear the drum grinding I can hear pennies in it would that make a difference?

You have front felt glide kit that the drum rides on and also rear bearing in back also that drum rides in. One of these is the problem and they both have to be repaired by going thru the front not the back of the dryer.
