Base from the description of your problem the best thing that we can do here is to format the Memory stick that you have on the camera using the format option from the camera menu.

    You can follow this.

Insert the Memory Stick into the side of the camera.
Turn the dial at the top of the camera to "Set Up."
    Turn the camera's power on.
Choose the Memory Stick Tool option from the main menu using the up and down arrows on the control button.
Select "Format" from the Memory Stick Tool menu by pressing the right arrow. Then press the right arrow button a second time to bring up the confirmation menu.
Choose "OK" by pressing the up arrow. The camera will now format your Memory Stick. When it is finished, you will be ready to use your Memory

It will be easier if you open this user manual for the ca,era from this link and then go to page 55 for the complete steps on how to format the memory card.

Recently purchased Sony Cybershot DSCW180. Took 3

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.
Thanks.

Sony cybershot dsc-w130 keeps showing "reinsert the memory stick" when i try to take a pcture or adjust telephoto when i do it does not make any difference

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.

Problems with my Sony Cybershot W210

1) Make sure that you're not using more than 4 GB memory stick pro duo with the camera. Then try to remove the memory stick and capture 2 images in the internal memory and turn OFF and turn ON the Camera and check. If the error message comes, its the issue with the Camera itself and requires service after resetting. to reset the Camera, select Initialize under Main Settings 1 menu under Settings. if the issue persists, the camera may require service
If its working fine, transfer all the images to the Computer and format the memory stick. Formatting will delete all the contents. If the issue persists, memory stick should be replaced.

If you are refering to the pictures you took on the camera before you put in the memory stick, then you took those pictures on the internal camera memory. the camera is set to default on the memory card whenever one is in. To get to the pictures on the internal memory, remove the memory stick and you should be able to view the pictures. To transfer those pictures to your computer follow the steps in the manual, just be sure not to have the memory stick in.
