I also have a white screen. I checked the capacitors on mine....well at least visually and I did not see anything wrong with them. No bulges. Any other good way to check them? So do you have any links to the areas you have been reading about on these? It seems to me on the larger board and I definitely have a resistor that actually burned the board. It has a black mark on it. Not sure if that has to do with a capacitor or not. Tell you what when you get your face plate off email me a picture of the main board at email@example.com and let me check if I am missing a capacitor. I have a spot that looks like a capacitor should be there but it is not. We can also compare resistance reading at different points to see if we can tell where the problem is.
To answer your question I popped it off with 2 small flat head screwdrivers. I took the stand off first (5 screws I think and then popped the front face off and then removed 4 screws on the side. After that just pull the panel display out slowly and disconnect the ribbon cables. There you have it.
