According to the 10428 manual from Safety 1st:
"When the battery is exhausted. Dispose of the thermometer as the battery is non-replaceable. Be aware of any local regulations concerning disposal of this product. The battery cover
is sonic-welded to the main housing of the thermometer, the battery is well sealed inside the thermometer to reduce the risk
of being swallowed by children."

Obviously you have to break it open to replace the battery.
Just cut around the seam with a knife, replace the #392 battery, and seal it up with clear packing tape. Voila!

How do I get a replacement battery for my safety 1st true view color video monitor?

I went on Amazon last week for the exact same issue. Mine was an older model though so I couldn't get replacement parts. I did however see a link under their Safety 1st products for replacement parts for video monitors. Try there. Good luck!

I replaced the battery in my safety 1st ear thermometer #49551. It still reads lo battery and will not operate.

This usually happens if the battery is not installed the right way. Meaning you have the + & - reversed. Also, and this happens more than you'd suspect ... the new battery, in fact may be weak..

Hope this helped you solve the problem.

When I put it on it says ''L''

I have a suspiciion that your display is faulty The error should be E not L There have been quite a few problems with this unit and many were returned for replacement. Distributed mainly via Amazon from what I can find. Changing battries for some resulted in total anhialation of the unit. Others found erratic readings of steak 110 on first test and 80 on the second insertion 2 mins later. All in all I think this is a cheap and faulty product from my research but for $12 I guess I am expecting a lot to want accuracy and reliability.
