Try checking the aspect ratio settings on the device feeding the tv if applicable, i.e set top box, DVD player, etc
Ensure the settings match the tv type, e.g, 16:9 for a widescreen tv. 4:3 may cause cropping of the top/ bottom of the picture if this is set
