I have the same problem with my GE range model # JBP79AW1. The bake element had a single hot spot (glowing red) and did not heat properly. When I tried to shut the oven off it did not respond.

My GE Spectra Oven will not shut off

You will need to replace the control board/display since the oven switch is built into the control board. Here is that part to order.

JBP65G GE range oven won't shut off

Electric Ranges have circuit boards that control the power to each burner or element. Circuit board could be faulty. I would not mess with electricity unless you know what you are doing. Call a certified repair specialist or the manufacturer if under warranty. Good Luck

I have a ge profile spectra electric range not sure of model when i use oven tocook when i shut off oven a error F1 and continue with a beeping noise until oven cools down

Thanks for using FixYa. F1 error means that the control board (ERC) has gone bad and the electronic range control (ERC) should be replaced to resolve the issue. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I have a ge oven, it will not work a f5 code keeps flashing

This indicates a loss of relay drive. Try shutting off breaker for 5 minutes if this does not reset you will need to replace the erc electronic oven control / clock. This is easy to replace. You can enter your model # at for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions.

Oven trouble

Do Not try to perform the below if: Oven is under warranty,You are not handy with a soldering gun, or Are afraid to do this.

The below solution applies only to my in-wall oven with F2 and F3 codes randomly, but presumably will work with other GE models.

I had the same trouble with a GE in-wall oven. The problem was on the electrical board behind the keypad. A pin that was soldered to the board, that was the input for the oven temp sensor, had cracked solder. So I re-soldered the pin and hopefully it will continue working.

If this fixes your oven please post back!
