I have followed the troubleshooting instructions and nothing is happening. the keypad or the remote will not work. The test and reset are working, I've unplugged it to try and reset the controls, but nothing.

I hope that you have the remote for the unit. The error code merely means that you have to reset electronics.
If you do not have the remote, believe it or not,
some VCR/DVD remotes will work the system. The remote instructions are for a 'One For
All' URC-3021B00 universal remote. The Haier remote will use the conventional buttons.
The buttons are as follows:
pause= timer on/off
I have same problem like yours to my newly installed Fujitsu multi-split system (the first time use since system installed 1 week ago). I rang the electrician who did the installation; he said it must be the units themselves nothing to do with electricity.
Okay, then I rang Fujitsu and their local service agent. They suggested me to switch off C/B for an hour to reset the units. I followed the instruction but the indoor units still did not respond to remote control...
It simply looks like no power supply to indoor units (they are hard-wired to the outdoor unit). So I used a multi-meter to test the power terminals of indoor units (Danger! If you have no idea about this, don't even try! ): it seemed no power supply even C/B is on. I turned to the isolator which next to the outdoor unit. The isolator was making arcing noise when I switched it on and off. The indoor units suddenly turned on for few minutes then died again.
So I figured out the problem is that crooked isolator. I called the unhappy electrician to replace the isolator. End story....
Hi Helen, i want to know the age of your Sharp Air con/Heating system. If its more than 1 year and you using it regular basic , then i suggest you change the battery or the remote control first then try . If the same thing happens then follow the instruction as per below image.
If there is also ok & look good then ,please call a service man and check the air cooling/ heating gas. Because you mentioned "I have the manual and have tried to reset the timers using the remote control but still no good. " Another chance you can take before call the service person, just reset the full system by remote control not only the timer. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.
First change the batteries in the remote. Is this a central system or separate units. It sounds like central which would have sequencers and fan relay that would keep it from coming on. mitsubishi uses pc boards for everything and they fail often. Unless you about elec. circuits then you will need an a/c contractor to troubleshoot the system. But first try the batteries if you haven't already.
