Modem Drops Connection while I'm online!

My computer logs online just fine but shortly after logging on no-matter what site I'm at, I get a pop up window saying "Connection Lost!". Then when I try to log back on then it says there isn't a dial tone even though I can pick up the phone and there is a tone. We have one phone line too. My service provider is peoplepc. What do I do? PLEASE HELP!?
