Modem Drops Connection while I'm online!

My computer logs online just fine but shortly after logging on no-matter what site I'm at, I get a pop up window saying "Connection Lost!". Then when I try to log back on then it says there isn't a dial tone even though I can pick up the phone and there is a tone. We have one phone line too. My service provider is peoplepc. What do I do? PLEASE HELP!?

Yo do NOT need special software, you simply access the unit via the Ethernet port and a Browser. It is all shown how to do it in the manual above.
You log into the router by typing in it's address and a default log on and password, Then you setup your connection, as i said please use the manual.

After logging in to the dial-up after about 5 minutes it kicks of line.the dial-up company says shows we are online

If you can get cable internet service, it will fix that problem. Your modem transfers 54bps over a phone line that transfers other info over that same line so from the service side of that deal you get the drops time from the internet. It's called (timeout from the internet protocal).

New computer, router dropping sites?

Log on to the router and make sure that these sites haven't been placed in a block list for whatever reason.

Check the Netgear website for firmware updates required.

2700HGV-B rebooting

Is this device a modem and router in one, or a router only that connects through a separate modem?

If it's a combo device, then a firmware update will probably fix your issue. Your ISP should be able to fix this. Hiding the device on the floor under a drawer could actually cause this because, like any computer, a router needs air flow to cool it off. Routers can overheat and freeze up leading to some weird symptoms.

If you have two devices (router and modem) then make sure it's not the modem acting up.
