HP Optical Mouse right click button does not work

posted by PearlySue on Apr 20, 2008

Everything on the mouse works except the right click button. Nothing happens when you click it. I have taken out the batteries and turned off everything....but I still have the problem.

Microsoft optical wireless mouse. One day the right click just stopped working. I replaced batteries, checked all connections. Still nothing.

Dear FixYa,
Thank you for your suggestion. However, the download did not work, so I'm guessing the right click is past repair and I am going to purchase a new mouse.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Hello PearlySue,

Just download the latest driver for your operating system HERE
and reinstall the driver. Once you've done that, reconnect the mouse and hopefully, it should work. If it does, it would be that the mouse is kaput and you may have to replace it. If it is under warranty, just take it back to the point of purchase and get it replaced. If not, you may have to purchase a new one. But do try the latest driver download first and see...

Hello PearlySue,

Can you tell me why you only gave me a 'thanks fo trying' rating? I did tell you that should the reinstallation of the divers not work, you will have to purchase a new mouse.

Negative ratings can have adverse effects on an Expert's standing here on this site. I would be grateful if you could change the rating to a 'fixya!' or at least 'helpful'....

Thank you for understanding,

IrishDruid
