Make sure the yellow, white, and red cables are plugged into th correct port on both ends. Be careful because white and yellow and easy to mix up. or if you use a screw in cable make sure the cable is screwed on all the way.

Connect yellow video from DVD to TV. Connect white audio and red audio from DVD to TV. These will be next to yellow jack. That is all the connections you need for picture and sound. Use RCA cables available at Radio Shack or Wal Mart.

I tried connecting HDMi cable from player to TV

You may have a defective HDMI cable. If you have a friend with a working cable you could test yours on their system.

Portable durabrand dvd player

The manufacturer of the unit went out of business in November of 2007. Wal Mart was aware of it at the time and continue to sell the units. As a result Wal Mart is exchanging the item for one of equal or lesser value.

Tracking control

Sounds like the remote control isn't working.  Getting support for Durabrand portable DVD players is impossible.  The company that manufactured them for Wal Mart went out of business last November.  I've heard that Wal Mart is replacing them with a unit of equal or lesser value.
There's a blog on Rip Off Report.com about it.

Color Faded

Hi Christine,
The company that made these has gone out of business, so you cannot get a replacement. However, I have a used 702 which I can sell to you for $45+shipping. It has all the parts, in original box.
I also have a used PDV-705 (this model has a remote control, plus S-Video & more), which I will sell for $60+ shipping. Both have been thoroughly tested and all works great. I can email you photos. Email me at 1topwop@comcast.net
good luck and warm regards,

Bought Durabrand portable 9inch dvd model PDV-709 malmart Alexandria Lousiana January 2008 the picture is not working properly took it in to New zealand registered electronics dealer he said problem is it...

the 1 year is with the manufacturer contact them and make them fix/replace it look in your packaging for a 800 contact #, i found this on the net...

Durabrand was first started in early 2003 as a brand only made for Wal-Mart stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, as a generic brand for electronics, but has grown to be available near-internationally (due to Wal-Mart's global reach). The products are marked for only Wal-Mart stores and available in very few other stores than Wal-Mart. Its name, Durabrand, was named that to mean durability at a low price. Like most generic brands, Durabrand is a chain of different manufacturers. Durabrand is chained with Lenoxx Sound, Alco, Funai (which would also include Emerson, Sylvania, and Symphonic), Orion, Maxell, Resonance, Initial Technology, and many other different companies. The prices of a majority of their products are often considered loss leaders.

No Picture

sounds like the digital video controller went out. you can test this on this unit by using the coax out and connecting to your tv, it seems to have its own video card looking inside the unit, however it is possible it is controlled centrally thorugh the main card in that case you will confirm by it not working and still only gettting sound through the coax.
