Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I have an HP psc 2200 series all-in-one unit. It has always worked beautifully, and I love it. Until recently, when I attempted to install a new ink cartridge. First, the cartridge wouldn't go in correctly, kept getting the read out to remove and reinstall. I did that three or four times. Then I put the old one back in to see if that would work. Then it seemed ok, and was going to do the alignment print, then it stopped, and the read out says that alignment was cancelled. I can't get the unit to do anything, it won't do the alignment, and it won't turn off, the light on the scan button just blinks continually. When I open the unit to try to see if I can remove the cartridge, nothing happens. The cartridge units won't move to the center area so that I can remove them. I try to get the set up button to work, and it just beeps. All of the buttons just beep at me, and the scan button continues to blink. What can I do? What should I do. First, try resetting it by just unplugging it for a couple of minutes, this should let it start working again

Next, you should Clean the print cartridge contacts
Caution! Do not remove both print cartridges at the same
time. Remove and clean them one at a time.

Make sure you have the following materials available:
• Cotton swabs or any soft material that will not come apart or leave fibers (for example, a scrap piece of clean cotton cloth).
• Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water may contain
contaminants that can damage the print cartridges).

1 Turn the unit on and open the print-carriage access door.
The print carriage moves to the center.
2 After the print carriage has moved to the center, unplug the power cord from the back of the unit.
3 Lift the latch to release the print cartridge, then pull it out of its slot.
4 Inspect the print cartridge contacts for ink and debris buildup.
5 Dip a clean cotton swab into distilled water, and squeeze any excess water from the swab.
6 Hold the print cartridge by its sides.
7 Clean the contacts.
8 Place the print cartridge back into the holder and close the latch.
9 Repeat if necessary for the other print cartridge.
10 Close the door and plug in the unit.
Because you removed a print cartridge from its holder, the HP PSC needs to align the cartridges.
11 After the message appears in the front-panel display, press Enter to align the cartridges.

Next reset the factory defaults

You can restore the original factory settings to what they were when you purchased your HP PSC. Choosing to restore your factory defaults restores all settings, except date information.
You can perform this process from the front panel only.
1 Press Setup.
2 Press 5, then press 3.
This selects Maintenance, and then selects Restore Factory Defaults.
The factory default settings are restored.

Let me know if you have problems with any of the above and I will help you get this working again.

Thank you for using Fixya and Good Luck

    Try this

    Replacing the ink cartridges
The power must be turned ON to the all-in-one or the print carriage will not come to the center.

    1. Locate and raise the print cartridge access door on the front of the unit, just above the output tray.
The print cartridge carriage will move into the middle of the access area.
Figure 1: Raising the front access door and the ink cartridge latches

    2. Press down lightly on the top of the ink cartridge latch of the ink cartridge to be replaced and then pull the lower section of the latch toward you to unlatch the ink cartridge.

    3. Grasping the sides of the ink cartridge, pull the cartridge toward you to remove it as shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2: Removing the cartridge after raising the latch

    4. Remove the replacement cartridge from its packaging, and touching only the black plastic, gently remove any tape covering the nozzles. Do not touch the gold-colored contacts.
Figure 3: Removing the protective tape

    5. Holding the ink cartridge with the printed label up, slide the cartridges one at a time into the print carriage as shown in Figure 4. The black ink cartridge (HP 56 or HP 27) goes on the right side (with the gray latch) and the tri-color cartridge (HP 57 or HP 28) goes on the left side (with the blue latch). If the optional photo cartridge (HP 58) is installed for six-ink photo printing, it is installed in place of the black ink cartridge.
      Figure 4: Inserting the cartridge

    6. Place your hand on the latch as shown in Figure 5, with the thumb pulling the end of the latch toward you. While holding the end of the latch out, press down on the top of the latch until it stops and then release the lower portion of the latch with your thumb so that it catches under the tabs. Do not force the latches into place or damage to the unit might occur. Close the all-in-one after latching the ink cartridges in place.

How do i remove the ink cartridge ?

Turn on the unit, then open the print-carriage access door by lifting

the handle until the door locks into place.

The print carriage moves to the center of the unit.

You may want to use a photo print cartridge for

superior print quality when printing photos. With the

color and photo print cartridges installed, you have

a six-ink system. See how to print the best quality

photos on page 22 for more information.

hp psc 2200 series

2 After the carriage stops moving, lift the latch to release the print

cartridge, then pull it toward you out of its slot.

3 If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the

photo print cartridge, store it in the print cartridge protector.

4 Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful

to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape.

Caution! Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

5 Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot until it clicks into

place.
The tri-color print cartridge goes on the left and the black or photo
print cartridge goes on the right.

We have a HP printer series 1310 and have recently purchased an ASUS notebook. We have attempted to install this printer to the laptop with difficulty as we continually rec've an error msg stating it is...

Hello

The printer should be compatible with both vista and XP
your printer is a serie 1310 but if you look closer you should find a more exakt nr like
» HP PSC 1311 All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1312 All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1315 All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1315v All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1315xi All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1317 All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1318 All-in-One Printer
or something like it. check for the serie nr or a mark somewere on the printer and you should find the right printer model.
you can download the drivers here when you find the right model.

good luck.
hope I helped.

Using JETCET Print with OKI C5200n Printer

The OKI 5200 is a 'GDI' or Windows only printer and does not support PCL or PostScript languages.
Most if not all of the printers listed support either PCL or PS or an inkjet based language.
I'm afraid you will not be able to print the the 5200 without it's driver loaded on the PDA.
If the 5200 supported PCL you would be able to choose any of the
Color HP Deskjets.
