Question about GPS

My Garmin StreetPilot c580 mp3 player on icon are now missing. This happened when I attempted to delete other songs and install new ones. I've tried everything - what do I do to reinstall the player?

Yes, and looked over a manual suggesting that. I see the mp3 folder when I plug in the system to my computer. Something may have been deleted when I was installed new songs - the program asked me before deletion, if I wanted to delete the other songs - I went ahead and did so. I do see the songs in the Garmin folders.

Thanks - I will try this. Can I repost if unsuccessful?

  • jaykome Apr 20, 2008

Followed instructions, and was successful, still no mp3 icon.

  • jaykome Apr 20, 2008

Still no luck, I followed the download instructions and I still have no icon, nor mp3 function - any suggestions?

  • jaykome Apr 20, 2008

    Thanks - waiting.

  • jaykome Apr 20, 2008

Did go to the main page, settings, and restore to factory. Still no icon. What should I do? Is there a way to download the player from Garmin? I've searched, and could not find - and have tried the updates...any suggestions? I've also contacted Garmin (via email) - waiting for response.

I supose you still have mp3 files in the sdcard. so a reset or a software update should fix it. One moment.

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

here is the newest software update

    http://www.garmin.com/software/StreetPil...

    Instructions for using this software

    1. Download the self-extracting archive file for your Streetpilot c580 onto your hard drive.
    2. Connect your Streetpilot c580 to a free USB port on your PC with the correct PC interface cable.
    3. Allow your Streetpilot c580 to initialize and enter USB mode.
    4. Unzip the files in the archive by running the downloaded executable file.
    5. Follow the instructions provided by the launched update application on your computer.

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

Yes, I will be here untill this is solved. Not a problem.

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

I think you have deleted something important in the garmin folder. One moment.

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

I beleave we have to restore the system into the default settings.

lets try to restore all settings

on the menu page, touch the settings icon

    then touch restore.

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

If that doesnt help, I beleave the files that where possibly deleted would need to be replaced

  • Ekse Apr 20, 2008

As far as I know you will have to contact garmin, as you already have. For the software.

I cannot get songs to download onto this new mp3 player and i cannot figure out how to erase the pre-programmed songs.

Hi liz enriquez...
Here is a little help on downloading some songs to your mp3 player and then how to delete from your mp3 player

Downloading songs:
1...You must download and install Windows Media Player 11 on your computer.
NOTE...Some older MP3 players will not work with Windows Media Player 11 or Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 11.
If this happens to you, then you will have to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10.
2...After you have downloaded and installed Media Player on your computer.
3...Open Media Player on your computer.
4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.
5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on.
6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

Frosen screen

If you pull the silver piece of plastic off of the face of the GPS there is a reset switch under that silver piece of plastic. Press that reset button and that should fix your problem. This URL should also help:

Computer doesn't recognize songs on the player

Go to disc utility and click on erase volume, then you will be able to add new songs. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you may have to delete the entire volume and start over.

No MP3 icon in C550

If you loaded new files, they are probably not in MP3 format. Right click and check. I had the same issue and when I saved .mp3 files the icon appeared again.

MP3 Player icon not even coming on screen

Hold a finger on the upper right corner of the screen while powering up the unit. This should do a master reset.

If that doesn't work, go here to download an update.
