Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

We have a Xerox Workstation Pro 2128 saying in the small screen "communication problem encountered" and we have switch off and switch on again several times and still same problem & mesage appeared. Before that we have a drum cartridge A1 also which is empty as well as the transfer roller which is at 0. Will it after changing this it will work or not. We have asked the Xerox technician to come and fix it. But before on last Friday the Xerox technician came and then said when using his laptop he culd not get access to the hard disk then he said that hard disk is faulty and he said also that the network controller has burned or not working. Reason why communication error.Then Xerox technician told us that we need to change and it will cost us a lot of money. So then I asked my IT guy in the ofice to cross check and he connected his computer with the machine and he got access with the printer and saw that hard disk working and that the network controller seems to be ok and through the connection on his computer he saw that the machine is giving error message saying Replace CRU and we know that Drum Cartridge A1 and Transfer Roller are finished and we think that maybe we need to replace these 2 consumables of maybe at first just to replace teh Drum Cartridge A1 to see if it works. We believe that Xerox technician was not clear about what was wrong and think that he gave us wrong advice. Now we stated this to the Xerox techinician this morning and he will come later on today bringing the Drum cartridge A1 to se and then check again with his laptop. So your reply on the above would be most welcome to help us. Thanks a lot for your kind help and advice so that we know exactly what is right so that we donot make unnessary expenses.     My question here is strang ethat when my IT man connect with the Xerox printer he sees everythig works perfectly and only CRU to replace.
    Whereas when the Xerox technician tries to connected with his laptop he cannot see the Hard disk and saying that Network controller is faulty. WHY IS THIS? if it was really faulty my IT man won't also be able to connect to it. Isn't it.

Since your local IT man was able to connect to the printer and see the hard disk is functional then the problem isn't with it. My guess, since the Xerox guy failed to connect to it by using a different connector than the one which the printer is connected to the other pc's in your office, is that the network controller indeed has a faulty connector and it must be replaced. Yes, that faulty connector was the cause for the "communication problem encountered" message. All the other symptoms are indeed caused by the parts that have met their life's end - Drum Cartridge A1 and Transfer Roller.

    Your printer can connect it these ways: 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, 10Base2,10Base5 (via adapter), USB (optional), Wireless Ethernet 802.11b (via third-party adapters). Your network surely runs on the first one, the Ethernet . The Xerox tech must have tried to connect using one of the others . Since that connection failed to work it means that connection is faulty and this is why you get the error message. The only way to fix that is to replace the faulty part.

We need to get the printer to recognize the network server name or IP address. At present it says "Unable to connect to (DC-260-795622). The server name or IP address may be invalid.

Ensure that all your network settings on the printer are correct, especially the DNS settings. Are you able to ping the printer from a workstation? Maybe you have a bad cable connecting the printer.

I did contact the Xerox support center and they did suggest the following fix:
reboot the printre --> pres the following buttons --> powersave + red stop button + nr 6.
This should empty the print memory.
Dont forget to remove all the printer jobs on the client computers.

I have a xerox workstation pro 416 and it showing me memory error, how do i clear it and install its software again

This sounds like you are connected to the copier.
First check your jobs and see if you have too many still in the machine. Try to delete some, and see if it clears.
The menu selection can lead you to the different map locations of functions that can be changed.
If this machine has memory moduals on the mother board, reseating the modual sims may help correct this type of problem.
To access the back cover, there are many screws to take off the back cover. Unplug the copier first before doing any service work to the machine. There may be a small cover on the back to pull the simms and reinstall them.
If it is machine software you like installed to the machine itself, only the service representative can preform this function

Xerox workcentre pro 40-communication problem encountered

Some connection is lose. One of the connectors to the main board may be loose. The communication it is taling about is the machine devices are not talking to the main board.
If you just purchased it you can call Xerox and they will send someone free of charge to fix it.

Does there happen to be a code coming up with the message? like an 03-888 ot 05-222?

Workstation pro c2128 - communication problem encountered. reset system by turning off, then using the white power switch. this did work?

Hello ! This problem often occurs after a physical power off for a certain period of time. If you haven't done so, reboot the system by powering Off then On, using the white power switch. If not resolved, unfortunately the only solution is for Xerox to service it with a specially set up notebook, which contains a "Tanker" service menu. Parts may be needed as well. Hope this helps.
