I have forgotten how to move the ink cartridges into a position where they can be changed.

Turn on the printer. Open the top of the printer to expose the ink cartridge compartment. Hit the "Stop" button. This will cause the printer head to move so that one of the two ink cartridges move above the "No Ink" icon. Hit the "Stop" button again. It will move the other ink cartridge above the "No Ink" icon if it needs to be replaced. The printer head will move to the original position to the right.

I changed my ink cartridge but the printer is not working

Did you use Genuine Cartridges? Brother Genuine Cartridges????

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Am getting black streaks on my printouts from my EPSON Stylus CX4800. They are darkest on the margins of the paper but the lines are visible across the entire page.

How long should an ink cartridge remain in the printer? When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head. EPSON Stylus CX7400 won't accept ink cartridge

Mine acts up this same way (more often than not). I've found that as I install new cartridges, it helps to "tilt" it towards the chip end so that it "rubs" as it's going in. You'd normally hold both sides when replacing a cartridge but I don't even touch the outer end as I do it & it seems to help the printer "see" the replacement when installed.
