Hi, what you need to do first is to go to the indoor unit and remove the panels where the beeps you are hearing are located. If the power shuts off when you remove the panel, you will have a panel switch located around the perimeter you may have to tape down to restore power while you check it out. You may have a chart on the panel glued to the inside or somewhere that may tell you what is going on according to how many beeps or led light flashes. The condenser coil outside may be shutting off on high head pressure due to it being dirty. You can use a water hose and cut power, and wash the coil out good. Be careful not to use to much pressure or you could bend the aluminum coil. If you are getting two beeps from the indoor unit, and it will not start, it should say on a chart what this means. Make sure your filter is clean. This unit is shutting down on a safety due to something going on, this is why you need to service it, clean coil, make sure filter is clean, Make sure your high voltage connections at all breaker boxes and fuse box at the outdoor unit are good and tight. They may be loose causing the unit to draw to much amperage. Start from the basics and see what happens. It doesn' sound like a internal problem, but I won't rule this out. Do the things as i have asked and we will go from there. Keep me posted.

Is a split a/c alc and a heating or heat pump?

a split system can be gas or can be a heatpump. a split system is when the condenser coil compressor and outdoor fan is outside. the other half is in the house close to your air filter .that well be your air handler. eletric heater. or gas burner .and indoor fan motor would be. i hope that helps you.

Problem with GE Zoneline 5200 model

Heat pumps have saftey circuits that prevent liquid flooding of the compressor. Inadequate airflow across the evaporator in cooling can trip this circuit. Have your package unit serviced with particular attention to cleaning the evaporator coil and be sure your filters are clean and changed frequently in the summer months. Hope this helps GL!
