Question about Hayward SAND FILTER, PRO SERIES
When you say it won't hold prime I assume you mean when you turn it off either manually or on a time clock? If this is the case you must have an air leak somewhere in your piping system or in your pump. Could the pump seal be leaking. Gasket on pump strainer ("O" ring) Is the strainer basked crecked. I've found several pump strainer assemblies with small cracks that won't even prime at all if there is much lift. Check for cracks on all threaded fittings, IF the fittings were overtightned then it can crack the fitting, like in pump inlet and outlet. Listen for a hissing, sucking sound when you turn the pump off.
