How do i override the stuck in fault mode on a mitsubishi electric MSH18NV

If you are a technician, then the first thing to do is to see what the actual fault that caused the lock out is. This is found on the control board in the outdoor unit. There should be LED's on the board that will give a trouble code. The fault MUST be corrected or the logic in the board will just keep locking the system out. The issue may be due to a failed component, low charge, faulty sensors, power outages, etc. It is really difficult for anyone to give a specific fix without looking at it to see what the fault is. I would definitely NOT recommend attempting a fix if you are not a trained technician due to the high voltage hazards and the specialized tools needed to work on the system. If you are a homeowner, I would recommend recycling power at the indoor and outdoor unit, then if it faults out again....call a technician. Leave the power off for 5-15 minutes to allow the system to completely de-energize, then turn it back on. Hope this helps.

My compressor continues to run even when I turn unit off. It runs in all settings as well. Is this a control board issue?

Hello David Forgey, thanks for your post!

Based off the information you have provided the compressor within your Frigidaire air conditioner continues to run when turned off and in different settings. It could be an issue within your control panel or a problem within the wiring harness. I would perform a reset on your air conditioner by unplugging the power cord for ten minutes. If that does not correct the issue you may want to consult with professional technician for proper repairs. Hope this helps. -Matt

I have a electra split system which has has developed a fault which is that when it is switched on the compressor and cooling runs for about 15 seconds and then switches off, if left it will try again...

Several things will cause this, the first I can think of is a bad capacitor for the
fan on the outdoor unit
(If the capacitor fails the fan will not run and the
compressor will go into thermal overload almost immediately and restart after
the internal thermal limit resets itself).

You should shut off system until it can be checked out.

You may also have low refrigerant, if this happens then the "Low pressure switch" will
shut the unit off as well.
Third would be possibly the contactor which controls the compressor, especially if a bug
gets between the contacts or they are burnt.
I would recommend having the unit serviced by a licensed technician .
Hope this helps.

Set thermostat to auto switch unit to heat. Unit lights runs for a minute then shuts off. Fault light blinks4 times, msg. Open high limit.

Check air filter for blockage, clean off flame rod found in the flame pattern of the last burner that ignites, check high limit switch with multimeter to see if good (found above the burner box). Make sure room air blower turns on within 90 seconds of first flame.

I have a 18000btu LG mini split heat pump installed about 1 year ago in vacation home. In heat mode the unit cycles on and off when room temp is within 2-3 degrees of set point. Cycle on time varies...

Hello.I think they are on to something with shortcycling on temp sensor.I think it should be sampling the return air instead of (inside coils ?).A 2*f dead band use to be built in (factory installed) to thermostats to prevent on/off, but not sure in this case.Try a new sensor location(return air) and see if anything changes.

Air condit. runs for ten minutes , shuts off and displays E1

You should first look in the instruction/operation manual usually in the back pages for trouble shooting or code faults (errors). There should be a list of faults such as E1, E2, E33, E44 etc. and an explanation of each code. If you cannot find this info, call the manufacture ; they will tell you exactly what the E1 fault code stands for and possibly what will correct it. Ask for technical support. The fact that it runs for 10 minutes and stops; if you unplug it or turn the control to off, will it start again when you reenergize it ? This could indicate low voltage from the electric source. Are you running it with an extention cord or is the electric circuit line a very long run and robbing power before it gets to the unit? Have you checked the filter so that it is clean enough for good air flow, otherwise the unit will detect the low air movement from a dirty filter and shut itself down.
