Question about Lexmark X340n All-In-One Laser Printer

No scanning software found. Please install Pegasus software and or scanner driver software. Error comes up when trying to scan documents into Lexmark X340N scanner.

Please download and install the scan driver from support.lexmark.com. After installing the scan driver, please check the scanner under Imaging Device from device manager. If scanner shows under imaging devices, open the scanning program and scan a document.

You scan documents to PDF format. You will need to install the Lexmark OCR scan software to do that. The scan software is only available on the install disc that came with your printer. Insert the disc to your computer hard drive and run the software. After the installation is successful, try to scan your document. You will then have the option to save it as a PDF file.
If you don't have the disc, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

Please go to the control panel and select the Scanner and Camera, hear you get your scanner, double click the scanner and try to scan the paper, if hear also give the same error then please reinstall your scanner driver,

click hear to download the driver

I was wondering how to scan more than one page at a time with the x7170. also is there any way to save the scanned document as a microsoft document?


The Lexmark X7170 printer can only scan one page at a time. However, it has the capability of scanning multiple pages using either the scanner glass or through the automatic document feeder. Refer to the Lexmark X7100 Series User's Guide for more information.
For your second question, Yes, you have an option to save your scanned file to a Microsoft document as long as the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The scan software is only available on the installation disc (not available as part of the downloadable driver on the Lexmark website).

After you have installed it you should see the device under Control Panel> Printers> Scanners and cameras

Hello I have a hp printer and I am trying to scan a document to my pc.but i get this error msg 'scanning error'try scanning from pc or check documentation.


You must also install the scanner driver too, and also the scanner management software, if installed properly one can scan fro paint, Word, Publisher and the like, as well as the software that comes with the scanner. There are also other scanner programs on the net, Vuescan, doesn't even need a driver to work, there is scantopdf, and quite a number of others. So go to the HP website and download the scanning software and the scan manager and install them, then you will be able to use the scanner as it was intended.

Use of Scanner


On this model there is a SCAN in black and white or color buttons but you need to have something on the glass to scan. Once it scans it prints!!!

Now lexmark software if installed comes with a program to scan with. you need to check under your prgrams folder under lexmark for the scanning software that was installed with the print driver.

If you open the lid and you do not see the white light chances are your scanner has and needs a bulb inside and at the point to install one of these you might want to concider a new printer.

How do it get it to scan from my printer to my computer. It says "Scan Error. Try scan from computer or see documentation. Press OK I did and it just shows the three options. Please help TY


Generally there are two ways to scan.
1. Your printer has a management program which controls most operations. On a Lexmark, it is the Lexmark Imaging Studio. Select scan there.

2. Your document software, Word, Photoshop, etc, can start the scanner. Usually under File, look for Acquire....Import....Twain.... Your printer/scanner should be listed. Select and start scanning.

If all this fails, you may be missing a driver, get them from your printers MFG web site.
