Question about Brother IntelliFax-1860C All-In-One InkJet Printer

Error message regarding new ink cartridge

I have today installed a new Brothers 1860c all-in-one printer. When I try to put the new ink cartridge in, the machine tells me that there is no cartridge and to reinstall (or install cyan--which I've done). I have done this 10 times and get the same messahe. What is the fix?

The cartridge is not put in good. make sure the tab that the ink came with is put in good then make sure the cartridge is clicked in all the way till the end. Then do a cleaning and a test run. Then you should be fine. If this does not solve your problem post to me and i will instruct you futher

Installed a black ink cartridge and the printer shows the message 'black cartridge missing' and also says 'cartridge error: error 50c'

Can only gave it a try.

Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.

Not Receiving Faxes


If it is a fresh ink and all carts have ink, you can unplug the machine and plug it back in while you hold the stop button for a few seconds after it powers up.That usually clears the error.

Replaced black ink cartridge and printer keeps asking to replace


The message that persists in saying to "replace black cartridge" could be due to a defective cartridge chip. The chip maintains counts and tells the printer when a new cartridge is installed. If you cartridge is remanufactured, they may have neglected to install a new chip.

Regarding the new fuser not working, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Try the following:

1. Open the printer access door.
2. Put out both ink cartridges and the printhead.
3. Let the printer access door open.
4. Put out all paper.
5. Pull out the ac adapter at the back of the printer.
6. Wait 60 sec.
7. Pull in AC adapter.
8. Wait 30 sec. then turn on the printer
9: Wait for the error message: Printer access door open.
10. Close the printer access door.
11. Wait for the error message: Printhead is missing.
12. Open the access door and put in only the printhead and the close the access door.
13. Wait for the error message: both ink cartridges are missing.
14. Open access door, put in only the black ink cartridge, then close the acess door.
15. Wait for the error message: Color ink cartridge is missing.
16. Open access door, put in the color ink cartridge and then close the access door.

If the error is solved, do a firmwareupdate right now.

Installed a new Lexmark ink cart and got an incorrect message


take out the cartridge , turn off your printer and take out all the cables behind your printer and wait for 5 minutes and put everything back in.. if the same error shows.. im sorry but your printer needs to be replaced.

Error message no cartridges


The plastic tips ( projections ) under the cartridge are brocken. Chech them and see if that is the case.

Intellifax 1860c no cartridge or replace ink keeps showing up


I have 1860 fax machine. It says that the black cartridge needs replacing. I buy a new cartridge and put it in and is says to install a black ink cartridge. I reinstall the cartridge several times and it says to install a black cartridge. Any help before I smash this piece of **** fax machine in the driveway?

If you don't have the cartridges seated properly you will get this message. Pull them and try again. Myself, I tried to save some money, and bought Brothers refilled ink cartridges. They wouldn't work, so only use new Brothers ink cartridges. Unplug the printer from the wall for it to recycle, don't use the power button. Good Luck
