Question about Craftsman 20 Hp 42" Deck Lawn Tractor
20 hp 42" crftman won't stay running when i take my foot off the brake.the blades will engage but cut out in 3 -4 seconds. If i shove it into frwd or rvs it drives for 2-3 seconds and wants to shut off. then i immediatly depress the brake and it stays running.
It is caused by the safety system - the seat switch, or the wires and connections going to it, cause this problem. Lift up the seat and look to see if the seat switch mounting has come loose or is broken. Make sure the connectors on the seat switch are on tight. If all that looks OK, take the seat switch out and use tape to keep the plunger pushed in. If that fixes it, then the switch mounting is the problem. If that doesn't fix it, then replace the seat switch itself - it's not expensive.
