Question about Acer Aspire 1804WSMi Notebook
We have an ACER Aspire 1804 WSMi laptop that is probably 6 yrs old. When we turn it on there is no screen visible just the hum of the computer. It started to do this and our son said take out the hard drive and then put it back in. We did that and it worked but then when it happened again it didn't work. Now it is always a black screen when we turn it on. Do you know what does this mean?
From what you describe it sounds like you have some kind of hardware problem possibly related to the hard-drive connection. Try starting it with the hard-drive removed it should at least show the bios screen. If it doesn't then you should start removing hardware(CD-ROM, RAM, etc) using a process of elimination. If you don't want to go though all that you could just sell it on eBay for part.
