Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

I replaced the lamp- now the picture won't come up

I replaced the lamp on my Toshiba 56HM66. Since then the I have a problem getting the picture to come on- sound is ok. It will turn itself off and on several times, at some point the picture will come up- but it might take 30 minutes or more. What's going on????

U hear alot of clicking,when power on to the tv?Yes,the ballast board,that the board that help to ignite the projection lamp is dead.The Ballast board is dead.Change the Ballast board.

I seem to remember this issue in their sets, might want to spend some time with the model number and search "problems" as I have seen this in one of these before---several thousand sets ago.

The picture comes on for a few seconds and then cuts off and then will periodically come on for a few seconds and then cut off again. Will the lamp cause it to do that, or is it a different problem?


U still have sound throught out the picture cut in and out?Yes,than the two long boards call the LCD inverter boards are dead.Replaced the two long LCD inverter boards will solved this problems.The"LAMP"indication LED light on the screen bazel panel,light up or flahes?Yes,the lamp life span is over,require the lamp replacement.

I'm getting a rainbow tint on the upper 1/5th of


usually when the lamp is going out the picture gets dark if you are getting a rainbow tint most likely the light engine is going bad.

You now have a defective lamp ballast board. It sometimes is the root cause of lamp failures in these sets. The problem here is that Toshiba does not sell the ballast board independently from the larger, more expensive light engine assy. Call Best Buy back and get a servicer out there. He may have to take the ballast board out of your TV and send it out for rebuilding.

Sounds like the light engine if it's blowing the lamps. Are you sure all cooling fans are operating?
