SOURCE: Toshiba D-VR650KU can't "see" digital channels

On the Notification screen with Cable highlighted I found that left clicking on Cable gave a drop down menu with TV on it for selection. The manual says that while Cable is highlighted, use the up or down arrows to get TV to be an option and then select it and Yes and enter. Hope this helps. I have other problems with my monitor on Line Out, the screen oftens turns blue indicating low or no video using Line 1 or 2 inputs.

SOURCE: Panasonic DVD Recorder - Digital tuner stopped working

Is your recorder hooked up to the new convert box for digital antenna reception?
I am currently researching the convert boxes for my dvd recorder. I found that some dvd recorders already have digital converter boxes already installed. This might be the case for you.

Hd recording

If the digital tuner can pick up the HD channels, then I don't see why it can't record them. However some TV channels have blocking on them to prevent recording. If it can't record a channel it will say so with a message, generally.

When connected to the Panasonic DVD player I get a message when on One HD and any channel above that - "Unable to decode HD". How can I connect to these channels through the player?

You can't, without an external HD set top box connected via the recorder's inputs. HD is not a standard digital tuner format for this or any model Panasonic DVD recorder that I am aware of. Panasonic do not offer a way for the user/owner to skip the HD channels (which cannot be decoded) in these units. You can only skip analogue channels in VCRs/DVD recorders (which feature an integrated SD digital/analogue tuning system) - stupid really. It just means you need a separate box to get all the available HD channels through the unit.

Yes, 7mate (channel 73) is HD (but it isn't specified on their website or in the EPG) as is Gem ( channel 90) and of course One HD.

I assume your machine has a built in SD digital tuner.

I am having trouble in connecting the new dvd recorder . I think ,I am missing some thing on the initial set up to receive the channels our present configuration is ... 1.R F cable input to set top box,...

I found your model information on a site which provided something I was going to ask you if I could not find it.DVD recorders need either a digital input from a cable box or a self-contained digital scanner(yours does not have this). So,you need to hook up as follows,External cable into cable box input, cable box output into DVD recorder input,DVD recorder output to TV coaxial cable input(usually labeled ant.)the screw on connector anyhow, you should know what I mean it seems. In this configuration, you should not need to turn on the DVD recorder to watch TV without recording because they usually have a bypass mode when there is no power on the DVD.If you have picture in picture(PIP),you should be able to use the main source to record and switch over to the PIP channel if you do not want to watch what you are recording.Do about a 10-30 second test of that just to make sure though so you don't end up all messed up.Oops.My bad...you do not have PIP.As long as the cable box is tuned to the channel you want to record, you should be able to use the TV's tuner to watch something else with no problem. When doing this on VHS recorders, sometimes the screen would get fuzzy and you would have to press the TV/VCR vutton on the VCR remote.I do not know if a DVD recorder will do it or not as I have yet to buy one,but when you do your test recording, you can mess around with whatever you want to see what happens so you will be fully prepared when you do it.If you need more help or have a problem/question,just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP.Good luck!
