My samsung front loader won't drain

When we pour water into the end of the drain tube not connected to the back of the washing machine.. it appears there is a back up. We tried to snake it with a wire hanger, with no results. all appears clean. When I try to run the spin cycle on the machine, it spins, but does not drain at all.

SOURCE: Water drains in wash cycle

It is probably a solenoid valve for the drain that is stuck open. There could be an object in it or may be defective.

SOURCE: samsung silvercare washer stopped working, won't unlock

here is the most common cause for this problem, according to the Samsung repair guy that was here to fix mine today.
On these washing machines it is possible for some debris (in my case it was a small screw from my packet) to make its way passed the drum and into the pump. Once this happens then the impeller of the pump becomes restricted or completely blocked which will result in the above mentione symptoms.
On some machines the pump is on the front, on others at the rear of the machine. In my case it was at the rear, removing the rear panel will allow easy access to it. Have a bucket ready, when the hose is removed from the pump the water will be draining from the machine. 3 bolts and a hose clamp on the inlet and another on the outlet hose. Disconnect the electrical plug from the pump and you can remove it from the machine for cleaning. A very easy job, requiring little skills and not much in terms of tools. (make sure machine is UNPLUGGED from AC outlet)
Remove obstruction(s) from pump and reinstall in reverse order of disassembly. The guy says these pumps are really tough so if you hear it buzzing, trying to go while it's jammed it's a good sign it will work. If not, replacement will be necessary.
Cost me $140. Could have been worse I suppose. Advise: Empty pockets BEFORE washing clothes...

SOURCE: Washing machine drains; then drain pipe overflows

Try some drano other chemical drain cleaner. If there is a build up lint or other biodegradable material in the drain pipe the drano should remove it.

BTW how long has it been doing this..... did it just start?

Water is backing up out of the drain pipe. I snaked the pipe and it doesn't appear to be clogged. Is there possibly anything wrong with the washer. Samsung VRT Model WA45H700AW/A2

Sounds like your drain pipe is not vented correctly. If not the water is fighting against the gas, and preventing flow. A lot of people think that a sewer pipe can run directly from the sewer but that's not how it works.

hi Calculas.
A few different methods can clear the drain pipe of debris and get it back to draining water the way it was designed to.
  • Locate your drain behind or under the washing machine and detach the tubing or pipe to access the actual drain. ...
  • Clean out any blockage inside the pipe with a plumber's snake

Where the drain pan is located in sub zero 700 series? Water builds up in the trough area. Is there a way to unclog the drain tube from the refrig opening?

get a hair dryer and melt out any ice that may be in the tube, then get a wire tie or a piece of 1/4 inch water tubing and snake it down the drain tube to clear it,reconnect the tube to trough and pour a cup of hot water into the trough it if drains you're all set.if not snake it again, food can get into the trough and then when the coil defrosts the particles go into the tube and the water freezes and causes a blockage that's all it is. this happens on most fridge drains i don't work on the 700 series but the larger subby's when this happens you can buy a heater kit that you connect to the original wiring and then the heater slides into the drain tube to prevent this.happy holidays

In the owners manual it decribes the yearly cleaning to the drain opening in the freezer compartment. My question is their a water collection pan with this refrigerator and where is it locate how do you...

The water drains into a drain pan that is usually located in the compressor compartmen on the back of the refrigerator. Most newer units you may not be able to remove it. But don't worry, the water in the drain pan will evaporate from the heat produced by the compressor and condenser coil. If you use too much water to clean the drain though, you van overfill it. So just use about two cups of really hot water and a flexible, snake like device ( I use 1/4 inch plastic water line or heavy weedwacker line ). Pour one cup into the drain and then use your snake device and gently run it down into the drain. If it is long enough and you can see where the drain tube drains into the pan, you want to be able to see the end of your snake device exit the drain. Try to break loose any debris and then remove your snake. Pour your second cup of hot water into the drain to flush out any debris and then you are all set.

Water drains out as fast as it fills........but not all of the time top load Whirlpool

There is a chance the drain hose has buildup within it and needs to be cleared out. This will take about an hour.

  • 1- Unplug the electrical cord on the washer from the wall outlet.
  • 2
  • Unfasten the hot and cold water hoses from the water lines after you shut off the water valves. Use a pair of slip-joint pliers to turn the hose fittings counterclockwise to remove them.

  • 3 Pull the washing machine far enough away from the wall so you can comfortably work on the rear of the machine.

  • 4 Locate the access panel toward the bottom left side of the back of the washer. Use a nut driver to remove the nuts that secure the access panel, and remove it.

  • 5 Find the water pump, which will have two hoses attached to it.

  • 6 Identify which hose is the drain hose by tracing it to the outside of the machine. The pump may also be labeled "Inlet" and "Outlet." The drain hose is attached to the outlet.

  • 7 Squeeze the clamp that secures the end of the drain hose to the water pump, using a pair of slip-joint pliers. Remove the end of the hose from the pump.

  • 8 Insert a plumbing snake into the end of the hose and twist the snake as you feed it through the hose. After approximately 10 feet of the snake is fed through the drain hose, you should see the snake and the clog come out the other end of the hose.

  • 9 Reattach the drain hose to the water pump and replace the access panel. Reconnect the water hoses and turn on the water valves. Push the washer back against the wall and plug in the electrical cord.

  • Hope this helps!

The washer leaves water remaining in drum after the entire wash cycle, it becomes stale and makes my clothes that I was smell. My father's front loader, GE, does not leave any water in the drum

Check the drain tube,it needs to be 30 inches above the floor.

Also if the drain tube from the washer is too far into the drain the washer will not drain completly. The drain tube should be 1 inch into the wall drain.

Also check for kinks or obstructions in the washer drain tube.

Samsung J845 front loader washing machine. Error

An OE error presents if the washing machine has not successfully drained the water in ten minutes.
there are a few simple steps to take before calling for service.
Step 1: Check the drain pump filter.
Items caught in the drain filter will prevent proper drainage. Over time build up can occur from detergents and additives used in the machine. Manually drain unit through the drain hose, then lay a towel down to catch the water, and remove the filter. Clean the filter thoroughly and restart the machine.

Step 2: Check the washers drain hose.
If the drain hose is not installed properly, the washer will not drain properly. The drain hose should not be installed more than 1 meter higher than the bottom of the washing machine.

Step 3: Confirm that the washer is leveled properly.
If the unit is not leveled properly, it will not drain properly. The front of the unit cannot be higher than the back or vice versa. If not properly leveled, the water can flow back into the machine. If this is the cause of the problem, please level the machine using the supplied leveling wrench. When you place a level on the washing machine, the bubble should be in the center. Confrim that the washer is leveled from side to side and front to back.
you can perform a diagonal test when leveling the washing machine to ensure that the unit does not tilt from corner to corner.
