What if it doesn't? Could it be gunked up with something or do I have to keep really tugging?

How do you remove the bottom spray arm?

Hello

Unplug the dishwasher. If you cannot access the plug, turn off the dishwasher's circuit breaker in the electrical circuit breaker box to stop electrical power to the dishwasher.

Open the dishwasher's door, and pull out the bottom dish rack. Set it aside.

Hold the lower spray arm still with one hand. Turn the retaining nut clockwise with the other hand until it comes free. Pull the spray arm up and off the shaft.

Dishwasher makes grinding noise when you turn it on

There is something in the shredder plate under the spray arm. To clear this you will need to remove lower spray arm and then using torx driver remove the screws holding the housing together and remove the housing to get to the debris underneath. Good luck and hope this helps.

Dishes not clean. Lower spray arm possibly not moving.

Remove the lower basket so you can access the lower arm.

Does it spin freely? If not, remove and clean the rotating point. Make sure the spray nozzles are not clogged and there as no chunks of stuff inside the spray arm.

Normally when you have low water pressure and/or cleaning issues, this an indication of a clog in your main wash pump. You will need to remove the lower spray arm and the coarse screen to get to the main wash pump sump. Inspect the impeller area of the pump. This area is usually where accumulations of debris collect and keep the pump from pulling enough water. Things like orange seeds, lemon seeds, bottle cap liners, chicken bones, and jar labels are just a few of the items I have personally found. Although, dishwashers do a good job at removing most food particles, they are not garbage disposals. I bet you will find a clog in the sump somewhere. Let me know if this helps.
